Skyjack Showcases SJ9253 RT & SJ4740 Rough-Terrain & DC Electric Scissor Lift Models At Bauma
Skyjack, a division of Linamar Corporation, featured its new full-size SJ9253 RT rough-terrain scissor lift at the recent bauma 2019 construction equipment tradeshow held in Munich in early April. Skyjack’s two-story booth also featured the SJ4740, the first model in the company’s next generation of DC electric scissor lifts.
The SJ4740
Unveiled as a prototype last year, the SJ4740 includes numerous features aimed at making Skyjack’s DC electric scissor lifts more reliable and easier to operate. Skyjack says changes made to the next-gen machines will also help create a “more globally aligned range.”
Improvements that the SJ4740 features include a new control box, single-location emergency lowering switch, adjustable pothole protection, new SKYCODED diagnostic display, and a scissor stack that’s more rigid. By year’s end, Skyjack says all its DC electric scissor lifts will include these improvements.
The SJ9253 RT
At 59 feet (18 meters), the SJ9253 RT is Skyjack’s largest scissor lift to date and the first from a range of redesigned full-size rough-terrain scissor lifts featuring faster function speeds, increased capacities, and higher working heights. Skyjack announced the new range earlier this year, and the bauma show provided European audiences their first chance to see one of its models up close.
Skyjack is actually working on a larger SJ9263 RT model for Q4 2019 release that will provide a 69-foot (21.03-meter) working height and make work at six stories possible. The range is to also include the SJ9233 and SJ9243 models and replace Skyjack’s existing 88- and 92-inch-wide models. Corey Connolly, Skyjack project manager, says while the full-size rough terrain scissor lifts have kept pace with standards, they haven’t incorporated many major adjustments in recent years. “The European Stage V emission standards gave us the opportunity to take a step back and see how we can increase utilization and demand for our customers,” he says.
