Terex Trucks To Expand North American Dealer Network
Scottish construction truck manufacturer Terex Trucks intends to expand its presence in the North American market, it says, especially in the U.S. and Canada. The company cited projected construction spending on roads, buildings, and pipelines across the continent.
“Colorado, Louisiana, and Alabama are target areas for Terex Trucks, as is Ontario,” and British Columbia in Canada, says Terex’s Sales & Marketing Director for the Americas, Robert Franklin. The company currently has 35 dealers in the region.
“As a company, we want to grow our business in North America, reaching new customers and working with our dealer network to deliver an even better service,” Franklin says.
The TA300 & TA400
In particular, Terex would like to sell more of its TA300 and TA400 dump trucks in the United States and Canada.
“Our TA300 articulated hauler does especially well in North America,” says Robert. “In fact, keeping up with demand is a challenge because it’s just that popular!”
The TA300 enjoyed an upgrade in performance, productivity, and operator comfort in late 2018. The hauler now comes with a new, smoother-shifting EP320 transmission that has eight forward gears (two more than the previous gearbox) and four reverse.
“The demand for the TA400 has picked up a lot recently too, owing to the various large-scale infrastructure projects happening throughout the region,” Franklin says.
Fuel Economy
“Based on customer feedback, fuel efficiency is a big part of the reason why customers choose to go with Terex Trucks over our competitors,” Franklin says.
Terex says the TA300 and TA400 are both very fuel efficient. After its refresh last year, for example, the TA300 now boasts a 5% improvement in fuel economy.
Moreover, neither truck uses DPF (diesel particulate filters), adding to their convenience factor and lowering their cost of maintenance. The TA300 and TA400 both meet North American emissions requirements using the latest generation of SCR (selective catalytic reduction), EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), and a VGT (variable geometry turbo), according to the manufacturer.
Hauler Specs
The TA300’s Scania DC9 engine puts out 370 horsepower (276 kilowatts) of power. The truck can haul up to 30.9 tons (28 metric tons) and has a heaped capacity of 22.9 cubic yards (17.5 cubic meters). It comes standard with a true independent front suspension which, Terex says, enhances its traction on slippery ground.
The larger TA400 is a 444-horsepower (331-kilowatt) hauler that can handle 41.9 tons (38 metric tons) of payload with a heaped capacity of 30.3 cubic yards (23.3 cubic meters). Its oil-cooled multidisc brakes, modulating transmission retarder, and exhaust brake all make it easier to control on slopes, the company says.
