Bobcat’s New E26 Compact Excavator Joins The R-Series
Bobcat designed its 3.25-ton (2.95-metric-ton) R-Series E26 mini excavator with higher performance, greater uptime, and more operator comfort as top priorities. The new model offers the best lift capacity for its size, the manufacturer says. It also has a minimal tail overhang so it can work in tight spaces, plus an in-track swing frame so you can dig flush against an obstacle from an offset position.
Important New Features
Bobcat endowed the R-Series E26 with a roomier, more comfortable cab with better visibility and less vibration. The front panel is bigger, and there’s 19% more glass throughout the cab overall. The cab also boasts reduced sound levels and new ergonomic joysticks with a low-effort design.
The narrow, 61-inch (1.55-meter)-wide compact excavator comes standard with a long arm and a larger hydraulic cylinder. The machine provides better digging performance and stability, Bobcat says, along with a new self-cleaning blade with a float feature.
The E26 also has a more robust construction with stiffer body panels that fit together more tightly. Its latches and hinges are similarly enhanced for strength. Another upgrade that can improve uptime are new steel hydraulic lines that are protected from debris on the worksite. The remaining rubber hoses are strengthened and simplified for durability.
Power & Versatility
The 6,489-pound (2,943-kilogram) R-Series E26 has a lift capacity of 2,359 pounds (1,070 kilograms). It can apply up to 5,652 pounds-force (25.14 kilonewtons) to the bucket while digging, and it can dig down to 9 feet, 5 inches (2.87 meters) under surface level. The machine has Bobcat’s exclusive Depth Check System for more precise digs down under. It can dump material at up to 10 feet, 4 inches (3.15 meters) high, and reach 15 feet, 9 inches (4.8 meters) at ground level.
The E26 has a 24.8-horsepower Tier 4 diesel engine that needs neither a DPF (diesel particulate filter) nor SCR (selective catalytic reduction) to comply with emission standards. It has 14.2 gallons per minute (53.8 liters per minute) of auxiliary flow, but there’s an optional secondary circuit should you need to run more demanding attachments. The approved list for the E26 includes an auger, a clamp, a grading blade, a grading bucket, a hydraulic breaker, a nitrogen breaker, a packer wheel, a three-tine grapple, and trenching buckets.
