Vermeer Expands Mini Skid Steer Lineup With Launch Of CTX160
The new Vermeer CTX160 is compact enough, at 42 inches wide, to pass through a 4-foot outdoor gate, yet powerful enough to handle jobs like moving heavy material and working ground-engaging attachments. Vermeer rates the CTX160 mini skid steer with an operating capacity of 1,600 pounds (727 kilograms) and an auxiliary hydraulic flow of 16.7 gallons per minute (56.8 liters per minute).
“We designed the CTX160 to give contractors a class-leading ROC [rated operating capacity] in a small footprint so they get the best of both worlds,” says Brett Newendorp, landscape market manager at Vermeer. “Also, it helps operators stay confident in their equipment when it is built with quality and durability in mind.”
Versatility
With a vertical lift path design, Vermeer is able to provide the CTX160 with a hinge-pin dump height of 88.75 inches (225.4 centimeters), so operators have the necessary clearance when dumping materials in a trailer or truck. Vermeer also designs the CTX160 with a universal mounting plate, which supports a wide range of Vermeer-approved attachments. And with its dual auxiliary hydraulic system, operators can easily switch between high flow for ground-engaging attachments and low flow for optimal control. A single, pilot-operated joystick provides easy, intuitive control of the skid steer.
Key Design Features
The CTX160 is powered by a 40-horsepower (30-kilowatt) turbocharged Kohler KDI diesel engine that does not require a diesel particulate filter; Vermeer says this reduces the engine’s complexity and cost. To provide traction when transporting heavy material, Vermeer equips the CTX160 with a 9-inch (23-centimeter) rubber track undercarriage and an operating weight of 4,000 pounds (1,814 kilograms). The stand-on operator’s platform boasts an integrated detection system, which disengages the loader’s ground drive and attachment motion when the operator steps off the machine. Vermeer backs the CTX160 mini skid steer with a 3-year/3,000-hour limited warranty.
