Crane manufacturer Manitowoc has sold a National Crane NBT30H-2 TM boom truck to Fontana, California,-based dealer Western Pacific Crane and Equipment. Introduced last year in response to customer input, the 30-ton (27.2-metric-ton) TM is the tractor-mounted version of the NBT30H-2, which is a standup edition with different specifications.

“We’re excited to have this crane in our fleet,” says Western Pacific president Bob Johnson. “The combination of high capacity and best-in-class boom length makes this crane a perfect fit for utility companies. The longer boom enables customers to pick up loads at the rear of the trailer without detaching from the kingpin.”

Western Pacific chose the crane for oilfield work and utility jobs, also noting its attributes as a taxi crane. “We’ve designed this machine to be road legal in all 50 states, without special permitting, and provide superior ROI,” said National Crane product engineering manager Bob Ritter a year ago at the NBT30H-2 TM’s debut.

    Long Reach, Stable Operation

The NBT30H-2 TM has a main boom length of 69 feet (21 meters) and a maximum tip height of 78 feet (23.7 meters). With or without its trailer, it provides 360-degree stability, Manitowoc says. It has out and down main outriggers and stabilizers, plus a fully integrated heavy-duty front outrigger. Each can be used with full, mid, and retracted span chart configurations to keep the truck level on uneven ground, the company says.

Manitowoc showed off the NBT30H-2 TM recently at the ICUEE show (International Construction and Utility Equipment Exposition) in Louisville, Kentucky.
