Kobelco Debuts New SK400DLC-10 & SK550DLC-10 Demolition Excavators
Kobelco’s new SK400DLC-10 and SK550DLC-10 crawler excavators are demolition machines capable of dismantling buildings up to nine stories high. With an optional high-reach front, the 50-ton (45-metric-ton) class SK400DLC-10 has a reach of up to 81 feet (24.7 meters), while the 65-ton (59-metric-ton) class SK550DLC-10 can reach up to 90 feet (27.4 meters).
Features
Both new building demo machines include features to increase productivity on the site and reduce downtime, Kobelco says. Besides the usual guards and protected cab, which comes standard with a 30-degree tilt function, the machines come with full guides to keep their tracks from being derailed by debris.
The excavators use Kobelco’s simplified NEXT attachment system to mount crushers and other tools at ground level. Rear and right-side cameras come standard, as do boom, arm, and jib holding valves and an automatic lubrication system. Both the SK400DLC-10 and SK550DLC-10 can run in power boost mode indefinitely.
Kobelco equipped the crawlers with a new cab interference prevention system, which keeps the working tool from accidentally colliding with the operator enclosure. There’s also a stability warning system to alert the operator to an unsafe condition.
Front Options
The SK400DLC-10 and SK550DLC-10 are both available with a high-reach front option to dismantle structures up to nine stories high. The ultra-long attachment supports crusher tools of up to 3 tons (2.7 metric tons). The crawlers are also available with a three-piece, separate boom demolition front that is at its best with lower building levels and underground tasks. It can use much heavier crushers, up to 5.3 tons (4.8 metric tons). Both booms are plumbed for water suppression purposes.
Weight & Power Ratings
The Kobelco SK400DLC-10 demo excavator has an operating weight of 99,400 pounds (45,100 kilograms). A Hino diesel engine gives it 269.5 horsepower (201 kilowatts).
The 130,100-pound (59,000-kilogram) SK550DLC-10 also uses a Hino engine, but its power is much greater at 363 horsepower (271 kilowatts).
