Morbark Unveils New Rayco RG165T-R Stump Grinder

Morbark has launched its new Rayco RG165T-R Stump Cutter at the TCI Expo commercial tree care show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The unit can be narrow enough to fit through a 36-inch (91-centimeter) gate, and grinds large stumps down quickly, the manufacturer says. It runs on gasoline to avoid the aftertreatment system maintenance of many diesel engines.

“At Morbark, we are focused on continually providing new products and product improvements that meet our customers’ needs and help them succeed in their businesses,” says Morbark Director of Tree Care Products, Casey Gross. The stump cutter and other new products “are direct responses to our customers’ requests and feedback,” Gross says.

    Capable & Compact

The new Rayco RG165T-R’s retractable undercarriage and folding hydraulic backfill blade contribute to a travel width of just 35 inches (89 centimeters). That’s narrow enough to maneuver into almost any backyard or landscaped greenspace. The tracks widen onsite for stability during the stump-grinding job, and the unfolded backfill blade enables site cleanup afterward.

The RG165T-R comes with a weather-resistant remote control for eyes-on command over its operation. Its hydrostatically driven Quick Stop 40 Super Tooth cutter wheel is an inch (2.54 centimeters) thick and 28 inches (71 centimeters) in diameter. The unit can cut 28 inches above or below ground level and up to 72.5 inches (184 centimeters) wide. Lateral operations are made easier by Rayco’s Command Cut automatic swing-speed control.

Powering the stump cutter is a 165-horsepower (123-kilowatt) Ford gasoline engine. The 5,600-pound (2,540-kilogram) machine uses non-marking rubber tracks to move around at high or low speed settings. Rayco offers a custom TR100 trailer for road transport.

    New & Upcoming Products

Rayco also debuted its new 1800AWL articulated wheel loader at TCI Expo. Upcoming equipment includes new Rayco forestry mulchers dubbed the C200R and TC74T-R, a new Morbark horizontal grinder called the 2400X Wood Hog, and a larger Rayco 4000AWL articulated wheel loader. Morbark says these products are scheduled to appear in the first half of 2020.
