Bobcat Debuts R-Series Compact Loaders, R2-Series Compact Excavators
Bobcat showed some new compact machinery last week at the World Of Concrete show in Las Vegas. The R-Series T76 compact track loader and S76 wheeled skid steer made their first appearances along with the new R2-Series E42 and E50 mini excavators. All are designed for improved visibility and reliability, Bobcat says.
R-Series Compact Loaders
The new R-Series T76 and S76 compact loaders are 74-horsepower units with a 2,900-pound (1,315-kilogram) operating capacity. Both models feature an inline turbo-diesel engine, a 128.3-inch (3.26-meter) lift height to the hinge pin, and a 23.3-gallons-per-minute (88.2-liters-per-minute) hydraulic flow rate. A 30.3-gpm (115-lpm) high-flow option is available on both loaders, as is a five-link torsion suspension undercarriage. The tracked Bobcat R-Series T76 outweighs its wheeled brother by a significant margin, albeit with only 6.2 psi of ground pressure. Its operating weight is 10,250 lbs (4,649 kg), in contrast to the new R-Series S76 skid steer’s 8,615 lbs (3,908 kg).
The R-Series loaders feature newly redesigned, stronger lift arms with cast steel sections, as well as the new cast-steel Bob-Tach attachment mount. Bob-Tach supplies a more robust connection to the attachment with reduced debris buildup. A direct-drive system and a 50% bigger cooling fan help the R-Series machines to remain reliable on the job.
Also new is a pressurized, one-piece cab that rotates for service access. The design of the cab helps it keep out noise, dust, and unwanted drafts. Options include a Touch Display control panel, four-corner LED lighting, and mesh-free side windows.
R2-Series Compact Excavators
Bobcat gave its new R2-Series mini excavators more efficient engines, better cold-weather operation, and a heated seat. New, low-effort joysticks reduce operator fatigue and enable precise motions, aided by a new, fast-cycling hydraulic control valve. The new E42 and E50 are compatible with depth check system components as well as an optional accessory kit. Another option is a clamp diverter valve that improves the performance of other attachments while the clamp is connected.
The new R2-Series E42 is a 42.6-horsepower (32-kilowatt) machine with a 9,830-lb (4,459-kg) operating weight and a conventional tail swing. The 72.8-in (1.85-m)-wide excavator has a 17.3-foot (5.27-m) maximum reach at ground level and a bucket digging force of 9,601 pounds-force (42.71 kilonewtons).
The new E50 is larger, but it’s designed for a minimal tail swing of less than one inch (2.54 millimeters). The 11,357-lb (5,151-kg) mini excavator has 9,511 lbf (42.31 kN) of digging force and 19.4 ft (5.91 m) of reach. The 49.7-hp (37-kW) unit is 77.2 in (1.96 m) in width.
