CASE Rolls Out Tier 4 Final PT240D Pneumatic Tire Roller With No DPF

CASE Construction Equipment has announced its new PT240D pneumatic tire roller for sub-base and asphalt compaction. With a compaction width of 78.2 inches (198.6 centimeters) and eight overlapping tires, it’s designed to produce high penetration and compaction density in fewer passes. The PT240D is designed for large-scale projects such as highways and airport runways.

    Rolling Down The Road

The new compactor’s turbocharged 100-horsepower (75-kilowatt) Deutz engine complies with Tier 4 Final emissions standards using SCR (selective catalytic reduction) and a DOC (diesel oxidation catalyst). Its aftertreatment system doesn’t use a DPF (diesel particulate filter), so it doesn’t add to the list of components to maintain.

The PT240D has the flexibility to use steel, sand, water, or optionally even scrap metal as ballast for different kinds of work. Its operating weight is nominally 21,380 pounds (9,698 kilograms), or 52,910 lbs (24,000 kg) at full ballast.

A central tire inflation system provides control over all eight tires, as well as consistency in tire pressure levels. The four front and four rear wheels overlap by 2 in (51 millimeters). Pressurized water from a 103-gallon (390-liter) polyethylene tank keeps the hot mix asphalt from adhering to the tires, which can also be outfitted with tilting spring scrapers. Optional thermal aprons help the tires retain their heat in cold conditions. The tires can oscillate three degrees in either direction, as well as up and down, thanks to the PT240D’s iso-static front axle. The rear axle has a locking differential option.

    In The Driver’s Seats

CASE endows the PT240D with not one but two operator’s seats, one on the left and one on the right. This gives the driver the best visibility to the relevant side of the machine. Ergonomic controls and the two suspension seats provide a comfortable work station.

The standard PT240D comes with four halogen work lights and a fixed ROPS open platform with an anti-vandalism cover. A sealed cab option brings heat and AC with it. Another option is CASE SiteWatch telematics to keep the home office apprised of the roller’s location and status.

CASE is the global construction brand of CNH Industrial.
