Deere’s Premium Circle Option Reduces Motor Grader Maintenance & Operating Costs
John Deere is offering a new Premium Circle with an integrated slip clutch as a factory option for its G-Series, GP-Series, and SmartGrade motor graders. The new design not only eliminates the Standard Circle’s wear inserts and their required maintenance, it also unlocks 40% more circle torque and 15% more speed.
“To be profitable, customers constantly work to balance ever-tightening margins with increasing expenses,” says John Deere Construction & Forestry’s motor grader product marketing manager, Luke Kurth. “John Deere is focused on providing new ways to help reduce those costs, and we are able to do that with the new Premium Circle option for all G- and GP-series motor graders worldwide. By eliminating the circle wear inserts and need for adjustment or replacement, customers will benefit from reduced parts and labor costs, while still maintaining an accurate grade.”
More Time On The Job, Not In The Shop
The secret to Deere’s Premium Circle is its fully sealed bearing, pinion, and circle teeth that are protected from dirt and debris. The only maintenance required is grease every 500 hours. In addition, the Premium Circle’s gearbox oil only needs to be changed every 4,000 hours instead of 2,000 hours.
By contrast, a Standard Circle takes far longer to service, meaning more downtime instead of productivity. The wear inserts in a Standard Circle must be replaced or shimmed every so often in order to compensate for wear. Restoring the circle’s tightness is critical to maintaining its accuracy and preventing damage. The result is more time in the shop for a grader with a Standard Circle, and less time on the job.
Grade Smarter
Another benefit of the new Premium Circle is that it allows a grader equipped with SmartGrade to handle an entire job from initial site clearing to the final grade, according to Deere. The company will showcase the new option at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show March 10-14 in Las Vegas.
