From The Mark I To The 3CX: JCB Produces Its 750,000th Backhoe Loader

JCB’s 750,000 backhoe loader recently rolled off the production line in Rocester, Staffordshire, which is also where JCB manufactured its very first backhoe nearly 70 years ago. The landmark machine is a special edition of JCB’s latest 3CX backhoe loader and is fully loaded.

Excavator Performance

With a reach of 21 feet (6.4 meters) and a digging depth of 17.7 ft (5.4 m), the JCB 3CX backhoe loader is a high-performance excavator. JCB’s extended dipper design adds up to 3.9 ft (1.2 m) of variable reach and dig depth. JCB’s sideshift technology allows operators to offset the excavator and dig parallel to buildings, while the auto stabilizer and auto level features quickly level the machine. JCB says the special-edition 3CX can dig up to 65 cubic yards per hour, and with sideshift, the excavator can achieve 15% more ground coverage.

Loader Performance

As a loader, the special-edition JCB 3CX can power through tough jobs with a 3-liter, 74-horsepower (55-kilowatt) Stage V engine providing 440 newton-meters of torque. JCB claims the new Stage V engine offers a 10% increase in torque and 7% increase in fuel efficiency over the previous T4F engine. JCB’s Smooth Ride System cushions the loader and improves load retention during transport, and a TorqueLock feature reduces on-road fuel consumption by up to 25%. A 6-in-1 shovel is available to let the machine perform multiple jobs without switching attachments.
