Kalmar To Supply Belgian Terminal With Super Gloria Reach Stacker
Lift manufacturer Kalmar plans to deliver one of its largest reach stackers to Belgian river terminal operator Delca Logistics BV in Q4 of this year. Delca’s new Super Gloria reach stacker will have a lift capacity of 49.6 tons (45 metric tons). It will be joining three Kalmar Glorias already in Delca’s fleet.
“We previously collaborated with Kalmar on a repair project for one of our barge handlers and were impressed with their speed, flexibility, and professionalism,” says Delca Fleet Manager Philippe Lesaffre. “The new reach stacker will play an important part in the future of our terminal by enabling safe and efficient handling of heavy and challenging loads.”
Delca’s New Lift
The Super Gloria headed to Belgium will be used to load and unload cargo from ships at a river terminal in Wielsbeke in West Flanders. It will have an EU Stage V engine, and it will be outfitted with a camera on its counterweight for visibility.
Delca’s new Super Gloria will be operable in two modes to accommodate various usage scenarios. In yard mode, the Kalmar will be able to stack up to five standard or high containers. In barge mode, the Super Gloria will stack containers either three or four high, depending upon the tide. The reach stacker will also be capable of stacking containers four rows deep in barge mode.
Gloriously Capable
The Kalmar Super Gloria is the biggest reach stacker the company makes. It’s available in five distinct models with lift capacities up to 77 tons (70 mt). Outreach for the series ranges up to 30 feet (9 meters), and lift ranges up to 43 feet (13 meters). Kalmar designed the reach stacker with a long wheelbase for stability’s sake.
