Komatsu Launches New XT465L-5 Feller Buncher At CONEXPO-CON/AGG
Komatsu recently introduced its new XT465L-5 feller buncher at CONEXPO-CON/AGG, which took place in Las Vegas from March 10-14. Powered by a 9-liter, 331-horsepower (247-kilowatt) Cummins QSL9 engine, the Komatsu XT465L-5 has a base weight of 74,516 pounds (33,800 kilograms), a lift capacity of 12,326 lbs (5,590 kg) at full reach, and a swing torque of 58,341 pounds-foot (79,100 newton-meters). The new feller buncher is also compatible with Quadco disc saw heads with 24-inch (60-centimeter) cutting capacities.
Other Komatsu XT465L-5 Features
The XT465L-5 has what Komatsu describes as a “gull-wing style engine hood” that folds down to create an elevated service work platform, as well as four other service access doors. The hydraulic system has two tanks, which makes the new feller buncher require “55% less total hydraulic oil,” according to Komatsu. The company also adds that the fuel consumption of its newest feller buncher is “up to 5% lower due to advanced engine and hydraulic system control design.”
Rugged, Yet Comfortable
Komatsu designed the XT465L-5 with durability in mind, complete with a rugged undercarriage and track chain links as well as “longer-wear roller and idler bushings” and “new triple-labyrinth floating seal housings” that prevent mud packing. At the same time, the cab is designed for maximum operator comfort, with an ergonomic IQAN-MD4 digital control system and enhanced visibility.
