Morbark Introduces New 2400X & 3000X Wood Hog Horizontal Grinders At CONEXPO-CON/AGG
Morbark debuted new 2400X and 3000X Wood Hog horizontal grinders at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG construction equipment trade show happening this week in Las Vegas. The grinders feature modular designs and are available in multiple configurations. Customers can equip both with tracks, which results in the 2400XT (on display) and 3000XT configurations. Customers can also opt to build the 3000X as a fifth-wheel/dual-axle unit or with pintle hitch/tri-axle (3000XP configuration on display). Morbark says both grinders are ideal for municipal solid waste, pallet recycling, sawmills, nurseries, and tree care debris niche markets and suitable for processing yard waste, brush, and other mixed woody feedstock into saleable product.
Expanding Markets
Michael Stanton, Morbark director of industrial products, says the models expand Morbark’s horizontal grinder lineup in all global markets and extends its reach in key U.S. and international niche markets. At 7.5 feet (2.3 meters) and 8.2 ft (2.5 m), respectively, the compact size of the 2400X and 3000X puts them within legal transport widths in any country, Morbark says. Both are available with electric power and include sloped infeed sides that provide enhanced operator visibility and more efficient material loading. The 2400X offers 188- to 203-horsepower (140- to 151-kilowatt) engine options, and the 3000X offers 350- to 577-hp (260- to 430-kW) options.
Vital Statistics
The 2400X’s infeed system has one 20-inch (50.8-cm) diameter top compression feed roll with internal drive and 4.4-ft-wide x 8.2-ft (1.34-m x 2.49-m) rubber belt or optional steel chain infeed conveyor. The grinder’s infeed floor measures 9 ft long x 4.3 ft wide (2.74 x 1.32 m). An adjustable manual folding infeed tray can add 3 ft (0.91 m) to the infeed length when open. The 3000X, meanwhile, features a variable-speed infeed system with one 34-in (86.36-cm)-diameter top compression feed roll with internal drive and a 12.4-ft-long x 4.8-ft-wide (3.76- x 1.46-m) live floor that can accept WD120 and slat chain.
