Bobcat Adds To Its R-Series Of Compact Track Loaders & Skid Steers

Compact machinery juggernaut Bobcat has announced the addition of four new, smaller loaders to its R-Series family of skid steers. The new T64 and T66 compact track loaders and S64 and S66 skid-steer loaders join the R-Series T76 and S76 released earlier this year. They have a 60 frame size and a vertical lift path, Bobcat says, and they’re designed to outperform earlier M- and M2-Series models.

    Meet The Newest Bobcats

The T64 and S64 are 68-horsepower machines with a 2,300-pound (1,043-kilogram) operating capacity. The 74-horsepower T66 and S66 loader are rated to lift a respective 2,450 and 2,400 pounds (1,111 and 1,089 kilograms). All have a 120-inch (3,048-millimeter) lift height to the hinge pin and a 17.6-gallons (66.6-liters) per minute hydraulic flow rate, along with a high-flow option. Operating weights range from 6,974 lbs (3,163 kg) for the S64 to 8,927 lbs (4,049 kg) for the T66.

All four Bobcats use a new, 2.4-liter inline turbo-diesel engine and a direct-drive system. The Tier 4 powerplant doesn’t have a diesel particulate filter, reducing maintenance requirements over time. The S66 comes standard with a two-speed transmission. Each new loader has an available five-link torsion suspension undercarriage for more comfortable operation.

    Standout Features

Bobcat made use of cast steel in strategic locations to make the R-Series loaders stronger, and it provides other benefits, as well. For example, cast-steel sections make the lift arms not only more robust but slimmer. This, along with the arm linkage’s new position at the rear of the loader, improves operator visibility. Meanwhile, the new cast-steel Bob-Tach mount provides a stronger connection to attachments while reducing the buildup of debris.

The latest R-Series loaders also feature standard keyless start, remote jumpstart, and theft protection. Their standard LED lighting can be upgraded with optional lights on the sides or upper corners. A new, higher-capacity radiator and a 50% larger cooling fan receive protection from stout steel louvers on the tailgate.

The cab of the latest R-Series loaders is also new; its pressurized, one-piece design provides excellent noise and dust resistance. Its side windows can be equipped with optional clear enclosures to provide a view unobstructed by steel mesh. The standard 5-in (127-mm) display or optional 7-in (178-mm) display with Bluetooth both support an optional rear camera with on-demand, automatic, or continuous rear view.
