Manitou presents its most compact track loader yet, the Gehl RT105. This diminutive yet powerful machine is only 50.8 inches (1,290 millimeters) wide and 71.5 in (1,816 mm) tall, and yet it’s rated to lift 1,050 pounds (476 kilograms) at 35% of its tipping load. The loader is at heart a tracked version of Gehl’s R105 wheeled skid steer, and the two models share 85% of their parts.

    Pocket-Sized Power

Able to squeeze into confined work areas, the little RT105 uses an inline lift design capable of reaching a maximum height to hinge pin of 109 in (2.77 m). Its reach when its arms are fully raised is 26.5 in (673 mm).

The 4,720-lb (2,141-kg) Gehl gets its power from a 35-horsepower Yanmar engine with 80 poundforce-feet (108.5 Newton-meters) of torque. The motor complies with Tier 4 emission standards with the help of a diesel particulate filter. Manitou says that the engine can operate at partial throttle to conserve fuel when its full power isn’t needed. The motor comes with a glow module in its intake to heat up incoming air for easier starts in cold weather.

The little RT105 also enjoys a new cast-iron, axial piston hydraulic pump that supplies excellent flow even at higher temperatures. Its standard auxiliary hydraulics can flow up to 14.5 gallons per minute (55 liters per minute). The Gehl loader uses the All-Tach universal attachment system, which can be manually engaged and disengaged with one lever. It supports attachments from Edge as well as other brands of universal-style attachments.

Gehl’s IdealTrax feature automatically applies tension to the tracks when the engine is running and releases it when the motor is turned off. (Photo courtesy of Gehl.)

    Dramatic Tension

The Gehl RT105 also comes equipped with the innovative IdealTrax track tensioning system. When the engine is running, IdealTrax automatically tensions the tracks to the proper amount. The tension slackens when the engine is turned off. Manitou claims that IdealTrax prevents over-tensioning and can extend the life of the tracks by up to 15%. The loader’s track rollers and idlers are sealed and intended to be maintenance-free.

The RT105 comes standard with Level II FOPS and a coded wiring system for easy troubleshooting.
