Potain Hup C 40-30 Tower Crane Helps To Build A Swiss Railway
Potain reports that three of its Hup C 40-30 crawler-mounted, self-erecting tower cranes have been working around the clock to build a rail flyover in Switzerland; this is the first project for the crawler-mounted cranes that were announced at Bauma 2019. The Hup C 40-30 is notable for being developed in conjunction with construction equipment supplier Stirnimann AG as part of Manitowoc’s Voice of the Customer program, as well as for being the first Potain self-erecting tower crane to feature crawler tracks.
Mobility On The Jobsite
Beyond the obvious traction benefits of crawler tracks, the 45-foot (14-meter)-long Hup C 40-30 features compact dimensions to increase jobsite access and ease of transportation. Support for front levelling up to 30% and side levelling up to 12% is available to maximize stability in rough terrain. Potain designed the crane with no extra masts to handle at installation, further reducing packing and simplifying transport logistics. Once onsite, the Hup C 40-30 offers 100% remote control erection and piloting. A jib also unfolds over the top of the crane to preserve space under the crane when working next to buildings.
Hup C 40-30 Specs
Potain rates the Hup C 40-30 at a maximum capacity of 4.4 tons (4 metric tons) and maximum radius of 131 feet (40 meters). The maximum load at the jib end is rated for up to 1.1 t (1 mt). The crane’s telescopic mast offers two heights, three jib positions, and several configurations with the jib tip removed or folded. It can also be repositioned while fully erected and travels at a speed of 32.8 feet (10 meters) per minute. When folded, the crane can travel at 82 feet (25 meters) per minute.
