South Carolina Construction Firm Benefits From KLEEMANN MOBICAT, MOBISCREEN & MOBICONE Aggregate Machines
The Wirtgen Group recently detailed how South Carolina-based Riverbend Construction Services is using a new MOBICAT MC 110 Zi EVO primary jaw crusher, MOBISCREEN MS 15 Z screen, and MOBICONE MCO 9i EVO secondary cone crusher from its KLEEMANN brand to increase the operation’s aggregate-processing productivity at a South Carolina quarry while enjoying reduced fuel costs.
Fantastic Engineering
Riverbend’s KLEEMANN machines are configured in a closed circuit such that primary material crushing occurs via the MC 110 Zi EVO. Crushed material and all fines then pass to the MS 15 Z, which includes a top deck with 2-inch (5.08-centimeter) panels and lower deck with 1.6-inch (4.06-cm) panels. The process also includes top deck overs transferring to the MCO 9i EVO for additional crushing before passing back to the screen. Overall, the arrangement has enabled Riverbend to process an average of between 305 and 335 tons per hour.
Although Riverbend uses other equipment makes for its two other mobile aggregate processing plants, Riverbend President Duff Boyd chose KLEEMANN machines after visiting the manufacturer’s plant in Germany. “The engineering is fantastic. As a result, I had to give them a try,” he says. Post-acquisition, Boyd says he’s received excellent support, and says the machines’ diesel direct drives have been beneficial. “The MC 110 Zi EVO and the MCO 9i EVO are diesel over electric,” he says. “The crushers are run off fluid couplings, but the rest of the plant is electric. The advantage is that the electrical systems are much easier to work on.”
Practical Application
Riverbend also benefits from the Continuous Feed System the KLEEMANN crushers use to govern the speed that material is conveyed at in relation to the crusher fill level, which Wirtgen says results in high output. “As the day progresses, and we start to see a little manganese wear on the cone or die wear on the jaw, and factors change throughout the day, the plants can be easily adapted,” Boyd says.
