Skyjack SJ3219 Scissor Lift Meets A92.20 Standards For Two Workers At Full Height In 28-mph Winds

Skyjack reports that its popular SJ3219 electric scissor lift is fully useable in wind conditions of up to 28 mph (45 km/h), in accordance with new, more exacting A92.20 standards. The A92.20 standards determine wind ratings in a more realistic manner than prior standards—namely whether a lift is exposed to wind, as in a partially completed building, rather than in terms of indoor or outdoor use. For this reason, many lifts that were previously considered to be safe carrying two workers at full height at their top wind ratings are now recommended for lower lift heights or single occupancy in breezy conditions.

Skyjack says that the 2,580-pound (1,170-kilogram) SJ3219 is the lightest in the 19-foot (5.79-meter) class that has a full-height 2/1 personnel rating using the new A92.20 wind ratings.

    The Skyjack SJ3219

The SJ3219 provides a practical work height of 25 feet (7.62 meters). It can be driven at up to 0.7 mph (1.1 km/h) at full height with its 3-foot (0.9-meter) roll-out extension deck completely extended. The lift’s platform features proportional drive and lift controls and a GFI-protected 110-volt AC outlet for power tools.

The battery-powered 24-volt DC SJ3219 propels its two front wheels using a variable-speed hydraulic drive. Its zero inside turning radius provides it with 90-degree steerability. It has a 30% gradeability rating and rolls on non-marking, solid rubber tires.

    Capacity & Options

The SJ3219 has a lift capacity of 550 lbs (249 kg), and when carrying a load, it can raise its platform in 25 seconds and lower it in 29. An alarm sounds when the SJ3219 is in motion or changing its platform height, and flashing safety lights are available as an option. The lift’s platform lowers to 39 inches (0.99 meters) off the ground, giving the unit a stowed height of 78.5 inches (1.99 meters).
