John Deere Introduces New 410E-II & 460E-II Articulated Dump Trucks
John Deere recently unveiled its new 410E-II and 460E-II articulated dump trucks (ADTs). They feature wider dump bodies with newly designed side sheets, an angled bin rail, and a lower, leveled rail height, all of which make the machines easier to load with minimum material loss during transport. Deere offers the option for an ejector body for the 460E-II, which the company says “allows operators to spread a load over a given area” and makes it safer to operate in environments with steep grades, overhead powerlines, and other challenges.
Deere also updated the cab and controls for the two new E-II off-highway trucks, including easier-to-reach heating and air conditioning controls, a switch module with 25% fewer switches than past iterations, and a multifunction lever that controls lights and windshield wipers similarly to a passenger vehicle. Optional add-ons include an Automatic Temperature Control system, a heated and ventilated seat, a seatbelt reminder system, and a four-point seatbelt harness.
Smooth, Efficient & Easy To Service
Deere’s E-II ADTs have Normal, Eco, and Traction drive modes that give drivers performance and efficiency flexibility depending on jobsite conditions. Normal is the everyday setting; Deere says it can reduce fuel consumption by as much as 7% over past models. Eco mode can improve fuel efficiency by up to 12% by “smoothing throttle input and reducing maximum rpm,” Deere explains. Traction mode is ideal for operating on softer ground with the help of wheel speed sensors and automatic differential locks. For even more granular control, the 410E-II and 460E-II both have low, medium, and high transmission retarder modes that Deere says help drivers alter the trucks’ operating characteristics as needed depending on the load they are carrying.
The E-II ADTs also have 10% fewer electric and hydraulic routings, which reduces the chance for leaks, and there’s an option for an auto lube feature that allows for ground-level filling for easier servicing. For added peace of mind, customers can add a five-year/15,000-hour transmission warranty.
More Reliable & Easier To Operate
“All of our ADTs are proudly designed and built by John Deere in Dubuque and Davenport, Iowa,” says Cory Ouellette, product marketing manager, ADTs, for John Deere Construction & Forestry. “The new E-II trucks combine the most popular features of the E-Series line with customer-driven performance and operation enhancements, resulting in a machine that is easier and more cost-effective to operate. With the three standard drive modes, new body design, operator station enhancements, and improved fuel burn, the E-II Series trucks provide customers with a reliable and durable, yet easy-to-operate, solution that positively impacts their operation and their bottom line.”
