Caterpillar’s 963 track loader is well-known for its versatility, providing operators with one machine to dig, load, carry, fill, and more. In updating the 963 with a Cat C7.1 engine—said to be up to 10% more fuel efficient while producing 15% more peak torque—the famously yellow brand continues to improve on the track loader’s productivity. Cat also made improvements to the 963’s cab and attachments for better operator response and further productivity gains. The updated 963 track loader is replacing Cat’s 963K, which was introduced in 2015.

    Take On The Toughest Tasks

With 202 horsepower (151 kilowatts) and an operating weight of 44,881 pounds (20,358 kilograms), the new Cat 963 is designed to put more power to the ground under load. Cat equips the track loader with a Power Mode that keeps engine speed high for readily available power, while a 10% reduction in fuel consumption is available via an Auto Mode that adapts the engine speed to the load. The 963 also features an Eco Mode to use even lower speed for further reduction in fuel consumption in lighter-duty applications. Cat indicates it will offer ruggedized Low Ground Pressure (LGP) and Waste Handling variants that will be factory-equipped with a specialized undercarriage and other protection features.

    New Attachments

The 963 supports an optional Performance Series bucket, which Cat says will boost productivity up to 20%. There’s also an optional Fusion Quick Coupler for faster attachment changes. The 963 will also work with a variety of buckets, forks and other tools that can be shared among track loaders, wheel loaders and other Fusion-compatible machines. Operators can control the track loader and attachments using either the joystick option or the V-lever and foot pedal controls in the updated cab.
