Doosan has introduced two new road-building machines based on its DX300LL-5 and DX380LL-5 log loaders. They’re outfitted with a package of features for clearing paths and building access roads for other machines and trucks to use. The excavator-boomed units can also be adapted to any related task with the appropriate attachments. Doosan mentions demolition, mill work, and timber harvesting, just to name a few applications the machines can tackle.

    Standard & Optional Features

The DX300LL-5 and DX380LL-5 combine log loader frames with excavator cabs, booms, and arms. They have a high, wide undercarriage to clear stumps and brush. Doosan outfits the pair with full-length guiding guards to protect their tracks from branches and debris.

A forestry cab is an optional replacement for the DX300LL-5’s and DX380LL-5’s enclosed excavator cab. Extra cab guarding is also available. Both machines support DoosanCONNECT Telematics for wireless reporting of their locations and status.

Suitable Doosan attachments include a hydraulic quick coupler, a hydraulic thumb, heavy-duty and severe-duty buckets, and a ditch-cleaning bucket.

    Specifications

The road-building edition of the Doosan DX300LL-5 is an 80,910-pound (36,700-kilogram) machine with a 271-horsepower (202-kilogram) engine. Equipped with a 2.1-cubic-yard (1.6-cubic-meter) bucket, the DX300LL-5 has a maximum ground reach of 34 feet, 3 inches (10.4 meters) and a maximum digging depth of 23 feet (7 meters).

The larger DX380LL-5 road builder weighs in at 106,483 lbs (48,300 kg). It’s a 318-hp (237-kW) unit with a 2.4-cu yd (1.8-cu m) bucket capacity. It can reach out to 35 ft, 8 in (10.9 m) at ground level, and it can dig down to 23 ft, 6 in (7.16 m).

Doosan also sells a road builder version of its smaller, 162.8-hp, 68,784-lb (31,200-kg) model DX225LL-5 log loader.
