Manitowoc recently launched the new National Crane NBT60XL broom truck crane that it says provides the greatest capacity and reach combination ever seen in the 60-ton class. Expanding on the design of the previous NBT60L model, the NBT60XL features a 151-foot (46-meter) five-section full-power boom in a vehicle length measuring less than 45 ft (13.7 m), forming what Manitowoc describes as a “strong and long” combination. Operationally, Manitowoc says the five-section boom reduces the need to swing a jib, meaning faster setup and productivity gains.

    151 Feet & Beyond

The NBT60LX features a hydraulically removeable counterweight that owners can configure from 0 to 16,000 pounds (7,257.5 kilograms), enabling it to handle much heavier picks, Manitowoc says.

“In order to get even more capacity and maintain overall agility, these ‘truck crane’-style counterweights offer many combinations allowing operators to take what is needed for the job and still meet any roading regulations,” says Bob Ritter, Manitowoc boom truck product manager.

    Available Options

Owners can outfit the boom crane with an optional 36-foot (11m) fixed off-settable lattice jib with 0-, 15-, and 30-degree positions to allow for an increased 196-foot (60-meter) reach. An optional two-piece 26- to 45-foot (8- to 13.7-m) telescopic jib, meanwhile, makes a 204-ft (62.2-m) platform “easily achievable,” Manitowoc says. Other features include a 20-degree tilt cab with heated seat, Bluetooth and AM/FM radio, graphical RCL (rated capacity limiter) color display, dual-axis joysticks with speed adjustment functionality, optional camera system, and real-time diagnostics. A National Truck Crane Performance package with four-position outriggers, integrated cameras, and wireless windspeed indicator is also available.
