JCB recently announced the 505-20E, its first ever electric Loadall telescopic handler, designed to deliver an equal performance to the diesel-powered version but with zero emissions. The 505-20E was created to provide a cleaner option for work inside buildings, underground construction sites, in greenhouses, and in other areas with stringent emission regulations.

    The Same But Quieter

The new battery-electric Loadall also provides a significant noise reduction, with an in-cab level of 66.7 decibels and external level of 92.2 dB. It's so quiet, in fact, that JCB offers an optional white noise reversing alarm to warn nearby workers of the machine's movements. The new electric telehandler has the same lift capacity (5,500 pounds, or 2,500 kilograms) and external dimensions as the diesel model and can use forks, buckets, and other Loadall attachments.

    About The 505-20E

The 505-20E has dual electric motors to increase efficiency, one for drive and one for hydraulics. The 23-horsepower (17-kilowatt) traction motor has a permanent four-wheel-drive dropbox, while the 30-hp (22-kW) hydraulic system motor powers the fixed displacement gear pump with a maximum flow of 21 gallons per minute (80 liters per minute). The drive motor uses regenerative braking to extend battery life. The machine’s 240V, 16A onboard charger can recharge the battery in eight to 10 hours. The optional JCB Universal Charger can top off the battery when needed during breaks in 60 minutes.
