Bobcat Machines Help Pool Installer Turn NY City Backyards Into Premium Pools
Gus Pools is a New York City-based business that specializes in constructing pools, a job that typically involves working in tight spaces and within strict construction requirements. The limited space means that Gus Pools needs compact equipment built for use in compact spaces. The company has been using Bobcat equipment since the 1980s when it bought a Bobcat 750 skid-steer loader, and the crew’s equipment now includes a Bobcat E32 mini excavator and T450 compact track loader.
Digging Force
Brothers Pat and Pete Panteliodis took over the business from their father 10 years ago, and Pete says that their Bobcat E32 has been one of their best purchases. “It definitely has a lot of power,” Pete says. “It’s compact, and we work in a lot of tight spaces. The digging force is there; reliability is there.” The E32 features a 24.8-horsepower (18.5-kilowatt) engine and a bucket digging force of 6,969 pounds-foot (9,449 newton-meters) of torque. The machine’s 61-inch (155-centimeter) width also lets it fit inside many outdoor gates and larger doors. The crew often uses the E32 mini excavator to excavate the jobsite and pile dirt.
Compact Transport
Gus Pools’ Bobcat T450 compact track loader is often utilized to transport the dirt out of the backyard, load the dirt into dump trucks, and backfill after installing the pool. “Even the smaller Bobcat machines, they’re still powerful,” says Pete. “They do what they’ve got to do. That’s why I use them.” The T450 is designed to maneuver around tight worksites and features a radius lift path to better function at mid-range working heights, such as dumping dirt over walls, backfilling, or unloading from flatbed trucks. Bobcat’s T450 T4 features a rated operating capacity of 1,400 pounds (635 kilograms) and supports remote control operation.
