Kobelco Construction Machinery recently introduced a new version of its ED160 Blade Runner, the ED160BR-7, which combines the key features of a short-radius excavator and a dozer. On the ED160BR-7, Kobelco equips the machine with a six-way large capacity dozer blade with folding edges, which makes the ED160BR-7 easy to transport. Performance enhancements help the ED160BR-7 deliver greater efficiency and productivity, as well as more power and speed than its predecessor.

    What’s New

The newly upgraded ED160 features a dynamic digging force of 24,800 pounds (11,249 kilograms), while the zero-tailswing radius and long digging reach capabilities provide a broad working range and easy maneuverability. When working as an excavator, the ED160BR-7 offers digging depth of 19 feet (5.8 meters) and a swing speed of 11 rpm to shorten cycle times. Kobelco also equips the machine with a new Tier IV Final engine that increases power output by 10%. The ED160 Blade Runner’s enhanced multifunction capabilities include an attachment selection system with adjustable flow rate presets for the bucket, breaker, nibbler, and thumb. Mode settings for other attachments, such as a tilt rotator, can also be easily added or changed.

    Inside The Cab

The ED160BR-7 comes standard with an ergonomic lever and GRAMMER air ride suspension seat, which Kobelco says reduce required operating force and fatigue. The ED160BR-7 also boasts various cab features, including an optimized control layout with a new jog dial and 10-inch color monitor. Built-in rear, left, and right-side cameras are displayed on a customizable split-screen display function to enhance operator awareness and jobsite safety.
