The west coast saw record-setting wildfires last season. Over a million acres burned in Oregon alone, leading to a massive cleanup. R&L Excavating, based in Sweet Home, Oregon, was one of a number of companies that came in to help. Using their new Doosan DX300LL-5 track log loader equipped with manufacturer’s road builder configuration, they cleared burnt timber out of the area. In addition to cleaning up debris from cities, after a fire it is common for crews to clean up areas in forests. Postfire timber harvests are done to salvage any usable timber, minimize insect outbreaks in fire-stressed trees, and reduce potential for reburn to ensure tree regeneration.

    About The DX300LL-5

The DX300LL-5 road builder has a fully guarded, heavy-duty, high and wide undercarriage for better ground clearance. Its tracks feature heavy-duty links with double grouser shoes and full-length track guiding guards. The loader’s standard excavator cab provides low, easy transport, and its boom and arm enable operators to use hydraulic quick couplers and traditional excavator attachments such as buckets and thumbs. The DX300LL-5 has 271 horsepower (202 kilowatts), a maximum dig depth of 23 feet (7 meters), and maximum ground reach of 34 feet 3 inches (10.4 meters). It has an arm length of 10 feet 2 inches (3.1 meters) and a boom length of 20 feet 6 inches (6.2 meters).
