Genie Enhances Its GTH-1056 Telehandler’s Durability & Power
Lift manufacturer Genie has launched a new and improved version of its GTH-1056 telehandler for the North American market. The telescopic forklift is “designed to lower total cost of ownership by 10% while delivering 20% more lift capacity at max height in a machine with a 30% stronger design,” Genie says. The telehandler has a maximum lift capacity of 10,000 pounds (4,536 kilograms).
“Customers provided critical feedback after operating multiple units for hundreds of hours on real jobsites,” says Genie Product Manager Josh Taylor. “Design enhancements focus on delivering reliable machine performance for increased productivity on even the most rugged and challenging of jobsites, while improving serviceability and lowering total cost of ownership.”
More Durable Components
Like Genie’s GTH-636 and GTH-846 telescopic handlers, the GTH-1056 has a side-mounted engine and a boom with a mid-pivot point and a single lift cylinder. “This simpler configuration, combined with a wider, stiffer horsehead efficiently transfers loads in applications imposing high stress on the boom, such as pipe handling or suspended loads,” Taylor says. The boom is also easier to maintain with slide-in wear pads and better chain retention and hose routing.
Another durable feature of the GTH-1056 is its set of Enduro A/T tires that last approximately one-third longer than standard rubber. The tires have a hybrid tread design that’s exclusive to Genie. Intended to combine the best attributes of rock lug tires and conventional rough-terrain tires, the tread has a wide center bar for extended life on hard surfaces as well as self-cleaning outer lugs that shed mud as they go.
“The GTH-1056 has undergone more testing than any other Genie telehandler previously brought to market,” says Taylor. “Created for long-term productivity, the reforged GTH-1056 is a telehandler operators and rental companies can count on to get the job done.”
Options & Specifications
Genie offers the GTH-1056 with a 3.6-liter Deutz diesel engine in two power levels with three transmission options. The 120-horsepower (90-kilowatt) edition comes with a four-speed powershift, a higher drawbar pull, and an 18-mph (29-km/h) top drive speed. Meanwhile, the low-maintenance, 74-HP (55-kW) version of the engine meets its Tier 4 Final obligations without diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). The 74-HP GTH-1056 comes with either a CVT transmission and a top speed of 19 mph (30.6 km/h) or a three-speed powershift that maxes out at 15 mph (24 km/h).
The new Genie is able to lift up to 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg) at its maximum height of 56 feet, 7 inches (17.25 meters), and up to 3,000 lbs (1,361 kg) at its max forward reach of 42 ft (12.8 m).
The GTH-1056 comes with full-time four-wheel drive and four-wheel steer with user-selectable steering modes. Its front and rear axles are hydraulics-free and have limited-slip differentials. Options include an enclosed cab with air conditioning, a rear-facing camera, a rear proximity alarm, and much more.
