Liebherr Ups The Power On L 550 & L 556 XPower Wheel Loaders For The Waste Disposal Market
Liebherr has upgraded its L550 XPower and L556 XPower large wheel loaders for the landfill and recycling industries. The manufacturer augmented the lift arms with reinforcements and reengineered the loaders’ hydraulics system. Liebherr says the changes give the L 550 and L 556 XPower better tipping load, breakout force, and horsepower ratings.
Purposeful Investments
"We remain in close contact with our customers and understand the tough conditions at landfill sites and recycling centers,” says Liebherr-Werk Bischofshofen GmbH Product Manager Mark Walcher. “With this in mind, we have purposefully invested in the performance and versatility of our two wheel loaders as part of our model updates."
The new and improved L550 XPower and L556 XPower are now available for order.
Improved Specifications
Liebherr says its XPower wheel loaders are built for performance, fuel efficiency, durability, and user comfort. A power split driveline helps the machines operate efficiently while moving paper trash, metal scrap, and slag, as well as soil and substrate materials.
The L 550 XPower is a 40,895- to 45,195-pound (18,550- to 20,500-kilogram) loader with a bucket capacity of 4.1 to 12.4 cubic yards (3.1 to 9.5 cubic meters). The 222-horsepower (165-kilowatt) loader has a payload capacity of 13,890 lbs (6,300 kg) and a tipping load rating of 21,605 to 27,560 lbs (9,800 to 12,500 kg).
Meanwhile, the larger L 556 XPower has an operating weight of 43,210 to 47,400 lbs (19,600 to 21,500 kg). It uses buckets with 4.5 to 13.1 cu yds (3.4 to 10 cu m) of capacity to move materials around the recycling center, scrap yard, or other worksite. Liebherr says the 249-HP (185-kW) L 556 XPower is rated for a tipping load of 24,250 to 30,315 lbs (11,000 to 13,750 kg).
