Customer Feedback Helped Doosan Design Its New -7 Series Wheel Loaders
Doosan has announced the launch of its new -7 Series of wheel loaders in the United States and Canada. Built strong to support greater bucket capacities, the new loaders feature a redesigned cab, enhanced operator comfort features, and new fuel-saving features. Doosan recommends the new -7 Series for agriculture, construction, recycling, mining, snow removal, and forestry applications.
“The new -7 Series wheel loaders represent more than a decade of research and development, as well as incorporating feedback from our customers,” says Doosan Dealer and Product Marketing Manager Aaron Kleingartner. “The next generation of Doosan wheel loaders easily competes with any machine available today.”
Built To Last
Doosan’s new -7 Series product family includes the DL280-7, DL320-7, DL380-7, DL420-7, DL480-7, DL550-7, and DL580-7. The loaders range from 189 to 394 horsepower (141 to 294 kilowatts), operating weights of 34,552 to 74,494 pounds (15,670 to 33,790 kilograms), and straight static tip load ratings of 27,064 to 60,550 lbs (12,276 to 27,465 kg).
The new Doosans’ improved bucket capacities range from 3.7 to 8.4 cubic yards (2.8 to 6.4 cubic meters). The new Doosan Smart Load system weighs the load in the bucket, while greater braking capacity and an improved Load Isolation System improve the stability of the machine while it’s in motion.
In order to bear the weight of their enhanced bucket capacities, -7 Series loaders are built with a beefed-up box frame and larger axles. Doosan endowed them with large center bearings and self-centering, double-tapered roller bearings. An automatic lubrication system factory option delivers grease to the middle of the pins and bushings.
Keeping Cool
To avoid overheating due to debris, the -7 Series’ radiator has cooling fins that are spaced 40% farther apart. A reversible hydraulic fan comes standard and can be moved out of the way for easier radiator cleaning.
Doosan’s Situation Awareness Technology feature automatically adjusts the new wheel loaders’ engine speed to match the requirements of its operation.
Smart Touch, Smart Guidance
Users familiar with previous Doosan wheel loaders will notice the -7 Series’ 14% greater glass area as well as its full, left-hand glass door. Large mirrors and a standard rearview camera help to keep the operator aware of the surroundings. An 8-inch Doosan Smart Touch screen displays the rear camera feed and other vital info, including efficiency advice from the Doosan Smart Guidance System.
The new wheel loaders have more legroom and a redesigned heating and air conditioning system for operator comfort. The joystick on the left armrest offers control over the optional electric steering.
Finally, DoosanCONNECT telematics can report on oil temperatures and time spent idle as opposed to working, as well as the usual hours, location, error codes, and other data.
More To Come
Doosan says it plans to launch five more wheel loader models in early 2022, including a pair of tool carrier models. Bucket capacities will range between 2.6 and 3.3 cubic yards (2 and 2.5 cubic meters).
