Manitowoc Updates Select Grove All-Terrain Cranes With New Carrier Cab
Manitowoc recently launched a new carrier cab on select four- and five-axle models of Grove all-terrain cranes with capacity of up to 150 metric tons. The new 2.55-meter-wide cab, available on the GMK4090-1, GMK4100L-2, GMK5150-1, and GMK5150L-1, meets the latest European crash test requirements while providing plenty of room for operators.
About The New Cab
The carrier cab offers increased interior space without increasing its compact exterior dimensions. Compartments in the dashboard and in the vehicle doors provide space to store loose items with additional storage space between the driver and passenger seats. The cab also features an ergonomic, heated driver’s seat with air suspension, armrests, cupholders, and USB ports for charging mobile devices. The central console no longer divides the cab, allowing operators to easily move from one side to the other, and the Crane Control System can be reached comfortably from a seated position. The CCS display allows users to access frequently used settings and drive modes and has the same layout and navigation as other GMK models to allow operators to easily switch from one Grove all-terrain crane to another.
“User-friendliness and driver ergonomics were our priorities in the development of the new generation of Grove carrier cabs, so an understanding of operators’ day-to-day work conditions was essential to the process,” says Andreas Cremer, vice-president for product management, mobile cranes at Manitowoc. “The operator needs to feel comfortable to and from any jobsite.”
