Liebherr Mobile Cranes Provide Versatility & Safety For Argentinian Contractor

Argentinian heavy haulage and heavy hoisting contractor Coamtra-Symco recently purchased three new Liebherr all-terrain cranes, including two five-axle LTM cranes (Liebherr’s LTM 1230 5.1 and 1250 5.1) and the four-axle LTM 1120-4.1. (Photo courtesy of Liebherr.)

Coamtra-Symco, a heavy haulage and heavy hoisting contractor in Argentina, recently purchased three new Liebherr mobile cranes, including two five-axle LTM cranes (the LTM 1230 5.1 and 1250 5.1) and the four-axle LTM 1120-4.1. The latter is due to arrive this month, while the five-axle cranes have been on jobsites since the beginning of the year. The versatile, all-terrain design of Liebherr’s LTM cranes let them adapt to Coamtra-Symco’s needs.

“The cranes are very powerful and have a long boom,” says Coamtra-Symco Director Osvaldo de Bonis. “On-site, they are extremely flexible, fast, and above all safe to use.”

Safe Adjustments With VarioBallast & VarioBase

Adapting the LTM 1230-5.1 and LTM 1250-5.1 to jobsite conditions is relatively simple thanks to Liebherr’s VarioBallast system, which adjusts ballast radius, and VarioBase, a flexible support system. “These systems make an enormous contribution to the safety of crane jobs and the prevention of accidents,” says CFO German de Bonis. “They take a great deal of strain off the crane operator.”

The cranes’ strong lift capacity also allows Coamtra-Symco to safely lift heavy loads. The LTM-1230-5.1 offers a lift capacity of 275 tons (230 metric tons), while the crane’s 246-foot (75-meter) telescopic boom provides outstanding reach. The LTM-1250-5.1 lifts 300 t (250 mt) and has a 197-ft (60-m) telescopic boom.

    The Compact LTM 1120-4.1

Coamtra-Symco’s soon-to-be delivered LTM 1120-4.1 will be put to work in Uruguay, and will initially be used to build a paper factory. “This all-terrain crane requires very little space for the set-up process,” says commercial director Xavier de Bonis. “It also has a long boom and outstanding lifting capacity values.”

Liebherr says the LTM 1120 4.1 is the most powerful four-axle crane on the market. With its telescoping boom fully extended it can lift nearly 10 t (9 mt). A lattice boom extension and a double folding jib can be added for an ultimate hook height of 308 ft (94 m) and a radius of up to 210 ft (64 m).
