Link-Belt is replacing its HTC-8660 Series II truck crane with the new 65 HT. The new telescopic boom truck crane has a higher lift capacity at 65 tons (55 metric tons), and it can reach a maximum tip height of 125 feet (38 meters). Link-Belt touts the 65 HT’s transport flexibility and jobsite travel capabilities.
A Very Roadable Model
The 65 HT packs a brand-new formed boom with three extension modes optimized for various lifting scenarios. The full-power, four-section boom can extend from 36.5 to 115 ft (11.2 to 35 m). The boom does not need to be greased, according to the manufacturer, as it extends and retracts on Teflon-impregnated wear pads.
Link-Belt gave the 65 HT a maximum counterweight capacity of 18,700 pounds (8,482 kilograms). With its counterweight removed for transport, a fully equipped 65 HT can weigh less than 65,000 lbs (29,483 kg).
The crane’s 260-horsepower (194-kilowatt) Cummins L9 engine is EPA 2021-certified to comply with new emissions standards. The truck’s drum brakes are actuated by an antilock brake system (ABS).
Visibility Options
The new crane is available with either dual- or single-axis operator controls. A fine metering feature allows for precise movements when necessary.
A display in the cab acts as an informative interface to the Link-Belt Pulse crane operating system. Link-Belt Pulse provides data such as the boom length, boom angle, radius of the load, and current wind speed. The display also offers access to onboard diagnostics, the rated capacity limiter, the crane’s configuration, and more. The 65 HT supports online 3D lift planning, as well.
As for visibility, an available Vision Package comes with cameras for the winch’s view, the right side’s swing view, a rear view for backing up, and the right side’s turning view. The 65 HT comes with halogen daytime running headlights and LED marker lighting. An optional lighting package adds two more LEDs, a cab-mounted LED work light, and a remote-controlled articulating spotlight on the base of the boom. Other options include an aviation obstruction marking light and a flag.
