    Liebherr has added a new 11-ton (10-metric ton) class top-slewing crane to its EC-B “Tough Ones” series. The flat-top 205 EC-B 10 slots in between the manufacturer’s 8.8-t (8-mt) 172 EC-B 8 and 11-t (10-mt) 220 EC-B 10 cranes.

Launched in June, the new Liebherr crane features a compact design, simpler handling, and the new, high-visibility LiCAB cabin. Customers in France and Italy have already purchased some of the first 205 EC-B 10 cranes on the market.

    New Compact Head

The new Liebherr 205 EC-B 10 has a compact head that contains its slewing gear, central switchgear, and entire slewing ring support. The crane has a maximum load capacity of 22,046 pounds (10,000 kg) at a radius of up to 59 feet (18 meters). At its full radius of 213 ft (65 m), the new Liebherr can lift 4,629 lbs (2,100 kg). The crane’s jib comes in 8.2-ft (2.5-m) sections.

Liebherr reports the 205 EC-B 10’s maximum hook height as 223 ft (68.2 m), but with the company’s 21 HC 290 tower system the crane can reach a maximum free-standing hook height of up to 233.3 ft (71.1 m). It has a 60-horsepower (45-kilowatt) hoist unit.

    Transport & Assembly

The Liebherr 205 EC-B 10’s slewing section, full jib, and ballast can be transported in four loads, with room left over for tower sections or central ballast. Its counter-jib rides along with the rest using a pickaback system.

Liebherr designed the 205 EC-B 10 for safe and economical assembly with just a few lifts. No hammering is required, as the slewing platform, jib, and counter-jib connect to each other using slidable pins.

    Brand Recognition

The new 205 EC-B 10 comes with integrated advertising panels that are highly visible at a distance. Also, starting this November, the crane’s LiCAB cabin will come with a new multi-touch display TC-OS central control element that’s currently available in Liebherr’s 125 K model.
