HAMM’s new generation of HP pneumatic-tire rollers are built with features to simplify operation, improve productivity, and produce high-quality compaction. The updated HP series include the HP 180 and HP 180i models with a maximum operating weight of 37,882 pounds (17,182 kilograms), as well as the HP 280 and HP 280i models with a maximum operating weight of 59,469 lbs. (26,975 kg). The “i” pneumatic tire rollers meet Tier 4 and Stage V emissions standards, while the HP 180 and 280 fit requirements for Tier 3 markets.

    Hydrostatic Rear Axle Drive

HAMM designed the HP series with a sensitive control system and hydrostatic rear-axle drive that make it easy to set a specific working speed. The control system, which can be adjusted using a rotary knob, combines with the HP series’ intelligent drive controls for smooth, even acceleration and braking to produce homogeneous compaction.

    Thermal Aprons & Tire Heating

HP-series compactors are available with several options to fit the job or jobsite at hand. Thermal aprons, for example, are available for all models. There’s also a diesel-powered tire heating option exclusive to the HP 180i and 280i. Diesel tire heating is safer than gas, according to HAMM, because there’s no open flame (tires heated by convection from diesel in fuel tank), and the HP series features automatic temperature control within a preset minimum and maximum temperature.

    Additive-Sprinkling System & Water Tank

The large water tank, boasting a 172-gallon (650-liter) volume, features a C-pipe connection for fast filing, and an additional 396-gal (1,500-L) water tank is available as a secondary reservoir and to add weight. The water can also be used when sprinkling the roller’s pneumatic tires. Water and additives are mixed automatically on the HP series, and operators can also convert the sprinkling from water to additive from the driver’s platform.
