Dominican Republic Civil Engineering Company Nearly Doubles Lifting Capacity With Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1
Força Diseño & Ingenieria SRL now operates one of the largest all-terrain cranes in the Caribbean, having recently received an LTM 1400-7.1. The seven-axle Liebherr mobile crane offers a lifting capacity of 500 tons (400 metric tons), almost doubling the lift capacity of Força’s next-most powerful crane, a Liebherr LTM 1220-5.2. The new LTM 1400-7.1 is one of several cranes the civil engineering company has acquired from Liebherr in the past year, a list that also includes two Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 cranes, an LTM 1200-5.1, and the aforementioned LTM 1220-5.2.
“Based on our good experience, we have again purchased directly from Liebherr,” says Força owner Jhon Modesto. “With the new 500-ton crane, we are expanding our product range significantly upwards. This makes us the market leader both in the Dominican Republic and throughout the Caribbean."
Adjustable By Design
The LTM 1400-7.1’s considerable range of boom configurations was a key factor in Força’s purchase, which is why the company also purchased telescopic boom guying, a fixed lattice jib, and a luffing lattice jib. “At Liebherr, we find the right cranes with the equipment we need for our requirements,” Modesto says. “The quality is excellent.”
Modesto indicates that Força will use the crane in steel and power plant construction, as well as wind power erection and mining jobsite applications.
LTM 1400-7.1 Specs
The LTM 1400-7.1’s telescoping boom can lift from 50 to 197 feet (15.24 to 60 meters) and the lattice boom extension can be added for an ultimate hook height of 427 ft (130 m). The full 500-t load capacity is available at a radius up to 9 ft (2.7 m), and the crane’s maximum radius is 328 ft (100 m). Liebherr powers the all-terrain crane with a 619-horsepower (455-kilowatt), eight-cylinder diesel drive engine and a 326-hp (240-kW) four-cylinder diesel crane engine.
