Earlier this month, Liebherr announced the availability of its new, visually striking 36 XXT truck-mounted concrete pump. The compact, versatile unit has a new 118.1-foot (36-meter), five-piece, folding boom with a low 23.6-ft (7.2-m) unfolding height and stable XXT support equipment.

The 36 XXT also features quiet performance from the unique Liebherr Powerbloc pump drive unit and HCC semi-closed hydraulic oil circuit. Customer feedback drove new features such as more stowage and storage options and more ergonomic steps.

    Precision Control

The 36 XXT has a vertical reach of 117.5 ft (35.8 m) and a horizontal reach of 103.3 ft (31.5 m). Its end hose is 13.1 ft (4 m) long. Liebherr says the pump’s quintuple-folding boom has very good slip properties, especially when laying concrete inside buildings. The boom is designed for low-vibration operation and doesn’t overhang the rear of the truck, increasing maneuverability of the unit in confined work spaces.

When mounted on a suitable three-axle truck, the weight-optimized pump can travel with a 28.7-ton (26-metric-ton) vehicle weight. The 36 XXT can handle concrete types that are difficult to pump thanks to its charging hopper shape and its two separately driven agitators.

Liebherr includes a radio remote control with a color display. The sensitive remote is capable of fine movements of the boom.

    Powerbloc & HCC

Liebherr’s innovative new Powerbloc pump drive unit features integrated hydraulic switches and measuring components, obviating the need for several hoses and other elements used in traditional designs. The Powerbloc also provides very quiet operation despite its high performance, Liebherr says.

The 36 XXT concrete pump is available with either of two pump drive units: The 140 Powerbloc has a maximum flow rate of 188 cubic yards (144 cubic meters) per hour, max concrete pressure of 1,160 psi (7,998 kilopascals), and 29-rpm pump cycles, all measured from the piston end. The 170 Powerbloc flows up to 218 cu yds (167 cu m) per hour with a top pressure of 1,160 psi and 34-rpm pump cycles.

The new 36 XXT also uses an HCC semi-closed hydraulic oil circuit, which Liebherr says combines the advantages of both open and closed designs while avoiding their disadvantages. Like the Powerbloc pump drive, the semi-closed hydraulic system provides power in a quiet manner. It also uses significantly less oil, according to the manufacturer.

Accessory options for the Liebherr 36 XXT include LED work lighting, tool and material storage boxes, and shelves for extension hoses.
