New Ditch Witch RT70 Ride-On Trencher Built For Navigating Tight Jobsites
Ditch Witch has added the new RT70 to its current lineup of ride-on trenchers. Designed with electric utility and fiber contractors in mind, the RT70’s narrow, 73-inch (1,850-millimeter)-wide footprint helps it fit in on tight jobsites. The machine is unique among Ditch Witch ride-on trenchers in that it’s equipped with crab and coordinated steering modes that let operators steer it with a steering wheel rather than twin steering levers. Ditch Witch says this makes it easier for operators to focus on the job at hand.
Productivity & Versatility
The RT70’s 72-horsepower (54-kilowatt) Yanmar 4TNV98CT diesel engine gives it the power needed to handle electric utility and fiber contractors’ trenching, plowing, and micro-trenching jobs. The trencher’s modular design makes it easy to switch from tires to tracks, and it is compatible with a long list of attachment options like backhoes, vibratory plows, and more, so that operators can adapt the machine to meet the requirements of each job.
“At Ditch Witch, we understand the challenges that electric and fiber contractors face daily,” says Ditch Witch Product Marketing Manager Steve Seabolt. “The RT70 is compact and maneuverable, yet powerful. This new unit, and its unique features, will allow the operator to tackle tough jobs in tight conditions.”
Easier For Operators
The RT70 features a 120-degree swivel seat, which Ditch Witch says combines with the machines’ layout to provide full visibility from the front tire to the back tire and attachments. The RT70 also includes features for driver comfort, including a cooling fan that moves hot exhaust out the side of the machine, rather than toward the operator. For easier maintenance, the RT70 features a single-piece hood and corrals all its daily maintenance points into one location.
