Rokbak Makes First-Ever RA30 Articulated Hauler Delivery To Easton Sales & Rentals
Earthmoving equipment and attachments provider Easton Sales and Rentals has earned an interesting distinction—the longtime Terex and Rokbak customer received and then immediately sold the first RA30 articulated hauler manufactured by Rokbak. Volvo Group-owned Rokbak was until early September called Terex Trucks; the Scottish manufacturer announced the change while introducing the RA40 and RA30 articulated haulers, the manufacturer’s most productive and efficient to date. Easton Sales and Rentals, which has locations in Ohio, New Mexico, and Texas, received RA30 unit No. 1, manufactured at Rokbak’s facility in Motherwell, Scotland.
“Rokbak has only been in existence a short time, but it’s built on the legacy of a company with a long history,” says Jeff Udelson, Easton Sales and Rentals managing principle. “What’s most impressive about the new Rokbak brand is how clear it is to see what it stands for—hard work, performance, reliability, sustainability.”
Workhorses On Parade
Easton Sales and Rentals’ RA30 was one of two it received and then sold right away to Linco Construction of Houston, which has already put them to work. Easton Sales and Rentals has already purchased another three RA30s, two of which it will immediately sell to Houston-based JMC Equipment LLC, and a third that will join the company’s inventory fleet. Linco Construction President Steve Brown says the RA30s are ideal for his company.
“Our business is built on delivering quality work that is competitively priced and performed by experts, so these new Rokbak machines are ideal tools to help us do that,” Brown says. “They’ve only been at work for a few weeks, but we can already see they are workhorses. We have built relationships with our clients on our commitment, hard work, and quality, and when we look at the Rokbak haulers, we see those same values shining through.”More About The RA30
The RA30 is well-suited for quarries, infrastructure developments, and commercial construction projects. The hauler has a 22.9-cubic-yard (17.5-cubic-meter) heaped capacity and top speed of 34 mph (55 km/h). It’s equipped with a U.S. Tier 4 Final-compliant Scania DC9 diesel engine rated for 370 horsepower (276 kilowatts) and 1,387 pounds-foot (1,886 newton-meters) of torque. The engine resides within a fully tilting cab, and is accessible via electronically raised hood.
The truck’s EP320 transmission has eight forward and four reverse gears. Rokbak notes that the transmission’s high overall gear ratio speed, equal ratio steps between gears, and optimized gear shifting with partial load shifts combine to lower fuel consumption and provide smoother gear shifting, reduced driver fatigue, and faster cycle times. The RA30 also includes an independent front suspension that improves driver control on uneven ground and slopes.
