JCB recently expanded its popular Loadall range of telescopic handlers with the launch of the new midrange 538-70. The newest Loadall has a maximum lift capacity of 8,377.5 pounds (3,800 kilograms) and a 22.9-foot (7-meter) lift height. The 538-70 is available with your choice of four transmissions, three engine power ratings, and three specification levels to ensure your operation gets a machine that best meets your needs.

The Loadall 538-70 AGRI has JCB’s Torque Lock 4 transmission with torque converter lock-up in fourth gear for efficient direct drive on the road. It is powered by a 109-horsepower (81-kilowatt) Stage V emissions-compliant JCB DieselMax 448 engine. The 538-70 AGRI Super has a 130-HP (97-kW) engine and a four-speed Powershift transmission with the option of a six-speed Autoshift with automatic and manual shifting modes and torque converter lock-up in the top two gears. Autoshift is also an option on the AGRI Xtra. Both the AGRI Super and the AGRI Xtra also have the option of the DualTech VT, JCB’s transmission that combines hydrostatic and powershift drives.

    About The DualTech VT

The DualTech VT provides precise low-speed control for loading and handling, as well as direct-drive auto powershift without a torque converter. The operator can select power or the fuel-saving eco mode and restrict the powershift selection for field work. The Flexi mode lets the operator set a fixed engine speed for optimum hydraulics performance with only the transmission responding to the accelerator pedal. DualTech VT also provides permanent four-wheel drive within the hydrostatic transmission’s speed range for traction in the field and yard as well as high-speed road work. It automatically switches to rear-wheel drive only for towing applications.

    Other Features

The telehandler has a 140-liters per minute (37 gallons per minute) load-sensing hydraulics system which includes gravity oil regeneration to bring the boom down quickly while maintaining control. Automatic Smooth Ride boom suspension is optional on the AGRI model and comes standard on the rest. The 538-70 comes equipped with JCB’s Command Plus cab, which features low noise levels, all-around and upward visibility, a push-away memory steering column, and ample storage.
