CLAAS Debuts Entry-Level TORION 530 Compact Articulated Wheel Loader For Farm Applications
The new TORION 530 from CLAAS is the third in its compact TORION series of agricultural wheel loaders with articulated steering. The 530 is the new entry-level model in the small TORION family with a horsepower rating of 46 (34 kilowatts) and an operating weight of 10,141 pounds (4,600 kilograms).
Its bigger siblings, the 10,957-lb (4,970-kg) TORION 535 and 12,566-lb (5,700-kg) TORION 639, have had their own engine power increased to 74 HP (54 kW). The two larger models are now available with either standard or optional High-Lift Z-kinematics.
The TORION 530
The diminutive CLAAS TORION 530 is powered by a 2.2-liter, four-cylinder, Yanmar diesel engine. The loader’s maximum articulated tipping load is 6,614 pounds (3,000 kilograms). Its bucket has a pivot point of 10.4 feet (3.17 meters) and can be dumped over heights of 9.25 ft (2.8 m). The machine has a maximum reach of 4.79 ft (1.46 m).
The 530 uses parallel-guided Z-kinematics. Its conical mast and attachment can be operated via joystick, although its two additional control circuits can also be controlled by another lever or a push button. The loader’s hydraulic system can flow up to 16.1 gallons (61 L) per minute at 3,336 psi (230 bar).
The new TORION 530 can reach a maximum travel speed of 12.4 mph (20 km/h). Like the TORION 535, the 530 has a clearance height of less than 8.2 ft (2.5 m) with its standard tires.
Shared Features
All three small TORION ag loaders boast a newly designed cabin offering ample storage and elbow room. Its curved windshield gives operators a clear view of the mast and bucket or attachment, even when raised. The user’s field of view is expanded by the cab’s glass door and right window, both of which can be opened 180 degrees and locked. Optional roof-mounted halogen work lights are available for work in low-light conditions, as are LED lamps with up to 360-degree coverage.
The TORIONs’ quiet new cabin also features an air suspension seat, air conditioning, and a three-way, continuously adjustable steering column. CLAAS says the wheel loaders’ A-pillar display and armrest control panel make it simple to get to work quickly, even when changing operators.
The compact TORIONs’ diesel engines achieve compliance with the EU Stage V emissions standard using a diesel particulate filter (DPF) and a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), but without selective catalytic reduction (SCR). The loaders use a hydrostatic drive with two speed levels. Their articulated pendulum joints can turn either direction with a steering angle of up to 40 degrees for admirable maneuverability. Optional mast vibration damping can mitigate rocking motions when the loaders are operated quickly and/or on uneven terrain.
The TORION 535 & 639
Despite its higher power output, the 2.1-L Yanmar four-cylinder engine in the TORION 535 and 639 has a slightly smaller displacement than the 2.2-L motor in the new 530. The 535 and 639 can now reach a maximum 18.6-mph (30-km/h) travel speed.
The TORION 535 has an overreach height of 9.25 ft (2.82 m) and an articulated tipping load of 7,716 lbs (3,500 kg) with its standard Z-kinematics, or 9.74 ft (2.97 m) and 7,275 lbs (3,300 kg) with its new high-lift option. Likewise, the TORION 639’s standard 9.78-ft (2.98-m) dump-over height and 8,598-lb (3,900-kg) max tipping load change to 10.4 ft and 7,937 lbs (3,600 kg) when high-lift kinematics are selected.
