At the World of Asphalt show at the end of March, Dynapac presented its new highway-class asphalt pavers and screeds designed and built in the U.S. for the North American market. The new equipment is designed to pave interstates, highways, county roads, and large commercial jobsites.

The four pavers include the D30T track and D30W wheel models, which have 10-foot (3-meter) basic widths and 30-ft (9.1-m) maximum widths, and the D25T track and D25W wheel models with 8-ft (2.4-m) basic widths. Dynapac lists a max width of 20 ft (6.1 m) for the D25W. The two new screeds are the 8- to 16-ft (4.9-m) Mat Master 16R and the 10- to 20-ft Mat Master 20R.

The new machines have a long list of branded features developed to reduce total cost of operation, extend service life, maximize uptime, speed up setup, accommodate both experienced and new operators, and produce uniform results across a wide range of conditions and asphalt mixes.

    Spend More Time Paving

The Dynapac D30T and D25T use extended-life rubber iTracks with a box frame design. The iTrack system is engineered for trouble-free operation with an intelligent tension-sensing feature that can stop the paver if a track needs to be tightened.

The D30W and D25W wheel pavers use dynamic suspension control (DSC) to maintain ground contact and traction for their drive wheels without spinning. This improves paving results and avoids uneven screed movement when running over objects, Dynapac says.

The new pavers offer multiple operating positions and modes to suit the user’s preference of working methods. Two swingout operator consoles and two independent tractor consoles with displays allow workers to run the machine from either position. The machines also let operators pave the way they prefer, including a Proportional Dual Sensor Mode in which the conveyor follows the ultrasonically controlled auger speed and a Proportional Quad Sensor Mode in which the auger and conveyor work independently using their own sensors.

Dynapac’s Anti-Segregation Auger system has a large, 17-inch (432-millimeter) diameter and a slim drive chain box to supply a homogeneous mix. An optional flow gate can help to control the head of the material.

The pavers’ PaveManager system offers operator assistance features such as FeedAssist, ImpactAssist, and LightAssist. CleanAssist and FillAssist help to get the paver ready to go to work. A hydraulic tunnel extensions option and auto lube system reduce maintenance time. An integrated sprayer and a front conveyor cover smaller than 10 in. (254 mm) make for fast cleanup.

Each paver includes a generator and power outlets that can run night work lights flicker-free, eliminating the need to source external generators. All of the pavers have Tier 4 Final Cummins engines with a fuel-saving ECO mode.

    Screed Features

The new Dynapac Mat Master 16R and 20R screeds include fail-safe, multi-zone heat control with consistent thermal distribution, shorter heat-up times, and an ECO Zonal heating mode. The screeds’ unique double extension system provides high pre-compaction and avoids bending or torsion, the manufacturer says. A positive lock thread mechanism keeps the screeds from coming out of adjustment while paving.

Dynapac says the Mat Master screeds can deliver high-quality thin overlays regardless of material type using the Active Screed Assist function. Their patented hydraulic Safe Impact system and DiveStop feature avoid bumps and marks in the surface. The 16R and 20R can handle asphalt mixes such as polymer modified, rubberized, warm mix (WMA), and stone matrix (SMA).
