Caterpillar Reveals TRS4/6/8 Tilt Rotate Systems For 302.7 To 310 Next-Gen Mini Excavators
Caterpillar has made its Tilt Rotate Systems (TRS) available to its next-generation mini hydraulic excavators. The new trio of strong, low-maintenance attachment mounts provide 360 degrees of rotation and 40 degrees of side-to-side tilt to allow the machines to work around obstacles, lay pipe, sort recycling, and so on.
The new TRS4 and TRS8 S45 models, along with the updated TRS6, are available for various Cat 302.7 to 310 model excavators. They come in a dealer-installable kit with joysticks and a display.
Plug & Play
The new TRS4/6/8 are available with either an S-Type hydraulic coupler or pin-on-style connection to the carrier, and with a Pin Grabber or S-type coupler to the tool or bucket. Each model has an auxiliary TRSAux1 hydraulic function at the bottom, and the TRS6 and TRS8 also come with a TRSAux2 bottom port, as well.
All three TRS models feature load-hold valves that maintain hydraulic pressure on the double-acting tilt cylinder to keep it in position, as well as a self-locking mechanism that allows for digging at any angle. One of the joystick control buttons shakes the bucket to dislodge clinging material or spread it out. Sensors on each TRS model are compatible with Cat software and myriad 2D/3D guidance system equipment.
Cat Mini Excavators
At the lower end of the range of Cat excavators compatible with the TRS4/6/8 family is the 6,725-pound (3,050-kilogram) 302.7 CR. This mighty mini is a 23.6-horsepower (17.6-kilowatt) model with a dig depth of 106.7 inches (2,710 millimeters), or 8.9 feet (2.7 meters).
On the heavier side of the spectrum is the Cat 310. The 22,451-lb (10,184-kg) digger has a 69.5-HP (51.8-kW) engine and a digging depth of 205.2 in. (5,212 mm), or 17.1 ft (5.2 m). The TRS modules dramatically expand the scope of tasks this group of mini excavators can perform.
