Bandit Introduces Rubber Tire SG-40W Version Of Its SG-40 Track Stump Grinder
Bandit has taken its popular SG-40 rubber track stump grinder and developed a rubber tire version called the SG-40W. The new gasoline-powered model made its public debut at the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) show in Charlotte, North Carolina, earlier this month.
Bandit plans to begin production of the new SG-40W in 2023.
Agile & Powerful
The SG-40 and SG-40W share a compact, tough chassis. Bandit says that the stump-grinding platform is known for its effective cutting action and modest price.
The new SG-40W has wide-profile flotation tires that can easily maneuver the machine without unduly damaging delicate surfaces. A hydraulic motor drives each of the four wheels for superb traction. The stump grinder is powered by a 38-horsepower (28-kilowatt) Kohler EFI gas engine.
The operator can move the SG-40W’s control console into one of three positions to obtain the best ergonomics and visibility for the task at hand, and can engage the belt-driven cutter wheel with an electric switch. Cutter wheel options include two 18- by 0.5-inch (457- by 12.7-millimeter) units: One is a Bandit wheel with eight Greenteeth, and the other is a New Revolution wheel with 24 Greenteeth.
The Current Model
The tracked SG-40 is 29 in. (736 mm) wide and can fit through most yard gates. It has a 47-in. (1,194-mm) cutting swing, a 12-in. (305-mm) cutting depth, and a 22-in. (559-mm) cutting height. The machine has a 7-gallon (26.5-liter) fuel tank and a 1,500-pound (680.4-kilogram) operating weight.
