Liebherr Showcases LH 30 M & LH 60 M Industry Litronic Scrap Handlers At ConExpo 2023
Liebherr showed off its sixth-generation LH 30 M and LH 60 M Industry Litronic material-handling machines at the recent ConExpo-Con/Agg trade show. The machines are purpose-built for working with industrial scrap, whether loading and unloading trucks, train cars, and ships or loading shredder conveyors and performing sorting duties. Liebherr says it builds the 190-horsepower (140-kilowatt) LH 30 M and 258-HP (190-kW) LH 60 M with matching injection systems, hydraulic cylinders, electronics, and other components for operational efficiency. Adding the company’s optional Solidlink quick-coupling system to the machines allows operators to quickly exchange attachments, including multi-tine grapples, from the cab with the touch of a button.
The LH 30 M
The LH 30 M provides 45.9 feet (14 meters) of reach and has an operating weight of 58,400 to 64,200 pounds (26,500 to 29,100 kilograms). Its multi-tine grab capacity ranges from 0.52 to 0.78 cubic yards (0.40 to 0.60 cu meters), its wood grab size from 1.20 to 2.27 cu yds (1 to 1.9 cu m), its sorting grab capacity from 0.98 to 1.50 cu yds (0.75 to 1.15 cu m), and its shells for loose material capacity from 1.57 to 3.27 cu yds (1.2 to 2.5 cu m).
Liebherr says because the hydraulic pump in the LH 30 M’s closed slewing circuit only supplies hydraulic fluid to the swing mechanism, maximum delivery volume is always available for swiveling the upper carriage, resulting in fast and overlapping movements. The machine’s cooler, meanwhile, incorporates a large mesh design that enables excellent machine cooling and results in a longer service life, the manufacturer says.
The LH 60 M
The L60 M surpasses its sibling with a 65.6-ft (20-m) reach and a larger multi-tine grab capacity that ranges from 1.44 to 2.22 cu yds (1.1 to 1.7 cu m). The material handler’s operating weight is 121,300 to 134,500 lbs (55,000 to 61,000 kg). Its wood grab size ranges from 1.91 to 4.31 cu yds (1.6 to 3.6 cu m) and its shells for loose material capacity from 1.96 to 7.85 cu yds (1.5 to 6 cu m).
Liebherr equips the L60 M with the power-boosting and fuel-saving Liebherr energy recovery system (ERC System). The machine’s adjustable hydraulic cab and built-in cameras, meanwhile, provide the operator with excellent visibility of the jobsite and the machine’s surroundings. No-slip steps, gangways, and platforms provide safe access to the cab and maintenance points, while features like a cab protective grid, impact-resistant laminated safety glass, and piston rod protection for cylinders further enhance safety.
