Case CE Re-enters North American Wheeled Excavator Market With New WX175E SR

Case CE previewed a new WX175E SR wheeled excavator at the recent ConExpo-Con/Agg convention that re-enters the company in the North American wheel excavator market. Last December, Case announced the four-model E Series of wheeled excavators for the European market, built in collaboration with Hyundai. The short-radius WX175E SR is part of that series, as are the WX155E SR and conventional tailswing WX140E and WX160E models. The short-radius design of the 22-ton (20-metric-ton) WX175E SR is perfect for working in metropolitan areas and on roadbuilding projects, where Case says space has become scarcer.

“Jobsites are becoming tighter, transporting steel-tracked equipment relatively short distances can be challenging, and steel tracks represent a large portion of the lifetime owning and operating costs of any piece of heavy equipment,” says Case Construction Equipment Product Manager Diego Butzke. “The new lineup of Case wheeled excavators addresses and improves on those challenges while still delivering a full-featured excavator experience capable of both production-level hogging and more specialized use with attachments.”

    Power & Versatility

The WX175E SR has a top speed of 22 mph (35.4 km/h). It’s powered by an engine rated for 173 horsepower (129 kilowatts) at 2,200 rpm. Engine auto-idling and shutdown functionalities help to reduce fuel consumption, noise, engine hours, and exhaust emissions. An electronic reversible fan automatically cools the power plant, and a self-cleaning mode eliminates dust and debris from the engine compartment.

A load-sensing hydraulic system and proportional auxiliary hydraulics enable the WX175E SR to function in multiple ways and with smooth, precise attachment control, Case says. Operators can save customized control for up to 20 attachments and access them from an in-cab display. An optional Fine Swing control feature is available for customers looking for greater precision and reduced material spillage, while a Power Boost feature can provide additional power when needed.

    Key Features

The WX17E SR has joystick steering, four-wheel hydrostatic drive functionality, and a Ride Control feature that enhances comfort and reduces bucket spills. A Case Max View camera system gives the operator 360-degree jobsite visibility, while intelligent moving object detection technology and a weather-warning system are included to enhance safety.

“Case wheeled excavators give roadbuilders, utilities, and public works departments a powerful new resource that simplifies transportation and saves space on the jobsite—all while still delivering the quality in performance that Case excavators are known for,” says Butzke. “These models are one more example of the Case commitment to deliver products and solutions that solve real-world problems out on the jobsite.”
