The Case 580SV Construction King Loader Backhoe: A Closer Look

As previously reported in this blog, Case Construction Equipment recently introduced its new 580SV Construction King center-pivot loader backhoe at the ConExpo-Con/Agg trade show in March. The new machine reintroduces not only the Construction King name to the Case lineup, but also a tool carrier-style front linkage. This allows the loader to be used as a material handler to move bundled and palleted items around the workplace in addition to playing its traditional roles.

“Case is the originator of the factory-built backhoe loader, and we are committed to supporting both the equipment and business growth demands of our customers throughout North America,” says Terry Dolan, vice president for North America, Case Construction Equipment.

The 580SV Construction King is available now for the North American market, as is Case’s new Rock-Solid Guarantee lease and warranty program. A side-shift version will appear later in 2023.

    The Case 580SV Construction King

The new, 4-wheel-drive 580SV Construction King allows a single operator to perform multiple functions on the work site. Aimed at landscaping, rental, agricultural, and utilities applications, the new Case loader backhoe has an operating weight of 18,695 to 19,709 pounds (8,480 to 8,940 kilograms) depending on configuration.

The 580SV has a 97-horsepower (72-kilowatt), Tier 4 Final FPT F5 diesel engine with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) exhaust aftertreatment system. Its standard transmission is a Power Shuttle 4F-4R synchromesh; an H-Type Powershift 4F-3R transmission is available as an option.

Besides pallet forks, the 580SV can use 4-in-1 and 6-in-1 loader buckets with a heaped capacity of 1.3 cubic yards (1 cubic meter) as well as backhoe buckets with 2.8 to 7.1 cubic feet (0.08 to 0.20 cu m) of capacity. A hydraulic quick coupler allows the machine to quickly switch between attachments. The 14-foot (4.27-meter) standard backhoe has a dig depth of 14.42 ft (4.39 m), which can be increased to 18.5 ft (5.6 m) with an optional 15-ft (4.57-m) Extendahoe. The latter has inner extension options and a thumb-operated proportional electrohydraulic control.

The Case 580SV has a high-visibility, rollover/falling object protection system (ROPS/FOPS)-certified cab with HVAC and a Bluetooth radio. An optional ROPS/FOPS canopy is available as well. The loader backhoe comes standard with a subscription to Case SiteWatch telematics.

    Available Upgrades

Options for the 580SV include a curved boom for greater clearance over dump truck beds, as well as an overlapping cylinder boom with an extendable outer housing. Case also offers the 580SV with speed-selectable Auto Ride Control and 1-way or 2-way auxiliary backhoe hydraulics.

The upcoming side-shift edition of the 580SV Construction King, scheduled to arrive later in 2023, has a backhoe digging boom that can shift from side to side to allow operators to excavate up against buildings and structures.

    The Case Rock-Solid Guarantee

Case is currently offering the 580SV for lease under its new Rock-Solid Guarantee program. The 36-month/1,000-hour-per-year agreement includes a provision to allow owners to end the lease after 12 months with no further obligation if not satisfied.

“If they get to the end of the first year and they realize that another machine would be better for their needs, they can turn that machine in and work with their dealer to pivot to a different machine,” says Dolan.

The Rock-Solid Guarantee also includes a full-machine warranty for a year, along with 36 months or 3,000 hours (whichever comes first) of powertrain coverage. Should the lessee decide to purchase the machine at the end of the three-year lease period, Case will provide a fourth year or 1,000 additional hours of powertrain protection.

“This exciting new offer from Case addresses both practical earthmoving needs while also delivering an extremely business-friendly way to invest in new equipment and expand capabilities with total peace of mind,” says Dolan.
