Gehl has announced that it is simplifying its mid-range wheel and track skid steer product lines for the North American market with six new models that cover a wide range of customer needs. The new V Series of wheel skid steers and VT series of track loaders offer a rated operating capacity of 2,100 to 3,929 pounds (953 to 1,782 kilograms) at 50% tipping load.

"We have focused on improvements in five main areas: safety, comfort, productivity, simplification, and serviceability,” says Gehl Compact Loader Line Manager Nathan Ryan. “All models are vertical lift and feature a new lift arm design. The driver’s station has also been redesigned with an improved version of our patented folding door. The new cab also offers some of the best visibility on the market thanks to a new window and roof design."

    More Capability, Lower TCO

The new Gehl skid loader lines comprise the V210, V230, and V275 wheeled models and the VT210, VT230, and VT275 tracked units. The latter group come with Gehl’s patented IdealTrax automatic tensioning system to extend the service life of the tracks.

On average, the V and VT Series have 12% greater breakout force and 14% more tank capacity than the manufacturer’s previous line of loaders. Gehl also says the new product lines have a 7.2% lower total cost of ownership.

The V and VT Series loaders come with LED lighting and a keyless start system that can be activated by entering a code. Next to the driver’s seat is a patented Pilot joystick system. A lifting cab and centralized maintenance points minimize downtime for regular upkeep. Options include side LED lights, a high hydraulic flow system, a rearview camera, and more.

    By The Numbers

To illustrate the range of specifications of the new Gehl loaders, here’s a look at the smallest and largest in the V and VT series. The V210 wheel skid steer weighs 7,480 lbs (3,393 kg) and is rated to lift 2,100 lbs at 50% tipping load, or an unspecified greater amount with an optional counterweight. The V210’s dump height is 90 inches (2,286 millimeters), and its dump reach at full height is 34 in. (864 mm). Powered by a Tier 4 Yanmar 4-cylinder diesel engine with 71 net horsepower (53 kilowatts) and 178 pounds-foot (241 newton-meters) of torque at 1,625 rpm, the V210 has an unladen top speed of 8 mph (12.9 km/h), or 12 mph (19.3 km/h) with a two-speed option.

The largest V Series skid steer, the V275, can lift 2,750 lbs (1,247 kg) at 50% tipping load or 2,926 lbs (1,327 kg) with the counterweight option. The 8,320-lb (3,774-kg) machine has a 98-in. (2,489-mm) dump height with 33 in. (838 mm) of reach in that position. It uses the same engine as the V210, but with a higher torque peak of 217 lbf-ft (294 N-m) at 1,800 rpm. The V275’s unladen top speeds are 7 mph (11.3 km/h) and 11 mph (17.7 km/h) with the two-speed setup.

On the track loader side, the VT210 and VT275’s specifications and capacities are like those of their wheeled counterparts, with a few differences. The 8,865-lb (4,021-kg) VT210 can reach 6 mph (9.7 km/h), or 10 mph (16.1 km/h) with the two-speed, while the 10,051-lb (4,559-kg) VT275 can travel at 6 or 8 mph.
