JLG's new X660SJ is a straight-jib, crawler telescopic boom lift available with diesel and/or battery-electric power plants. The versatile lift has an unrestricted platform capacity of 500 pounds (226.8 kilograms)—enough for two workers—with a working height of up to 71.6 feet (21.8 meters) and a horizontal outreach of up to 39 ft (11.8 m). The 7,273-lb (3,299-kg) compact lift is just 2.9 ft (0.89 m) wide, so it can fit through double doorways for indoor or outdoor use.

“The X660SJ is designed with several unique features that are key to efficiently accessing work at height,” says JLG Boom Lift Product Management Lead Angela Patterson. “For example, the architecture of this new straight-boom compact crawler boom lift enables operators to reach full height more efficiently, while its crawler-mounted design and 40% gradeability mean the X660SJ can climb slopes with ease compared to standard lifts. And its 2.9-ft profile and less than 7,400-lbs footprint allow operators to go more places around the jobsite, such as through gates and standard doorways to work in yards and public buildings.”

    Diesel, Electric, Or Both

The standard X660SJ has a Kubota 14.5-horsepower (10.8-kilowatt) diesel engine, but the model is available with a lithium-ion battery-electric power source or even both with JLG’s bi-energy option. The bi-energy version includes a diesel engine as well as a 120-ampere-hour, 51.4-volt battery and AC drive system option so the user can choose the best full-size, independent power plant for the job. For example, they can opt to turn off the internal combustion engine and switch to the electric drive motor when heading indoors.

    JLG Versatility

The X660SJ has an AC-powered boom with 360 degrees of non-continuous swing. Its jib offers 89 degrees of articulation.

JLG equips the X660SJ and its other compact crawler boom lifts sold in North America with biodegradable, fully synthetic hydraulic fluid, so they can operate outdoors without worrying about harmful spills. The machine protects its boom’s components from debris with its enclosed powertrack design.

The lift’s one-touch, self-leveling outriggers can be extended into multiple positions to provide its best lifting ability in confined floor areas. Its envelope tracking operation feature allows it to work next to buildings and walls without causing damage. JLG provides air, water, and power lines to the platform and non-marking tracks to protect indoor flooring.

The user can move the platform perpendicular to the ground with a single control function that telescopes the boom as it simultaneously rises or descends. The X660SJ can also return automatically to its stowed position with its “Go Home” feature or go “Back to Work” to a raised position recorded by the operator. The machine’s software determines its boom and jib motions based on its stability.

Like other JLG lifts, the X660SJ comes with standard forklift pockets and lifting eyes for ease of loading and unloading. Its control panel is protected by the SkyGuard SkyLine feature. The lift has front and rear LED lights for visibility and safety.
