New Holland Construction has added a couple of larger models to its recent line of small articulated loaders, and the new units have a telescoping loader boom. The 65-horsepower (48-kilowatt) ML35T and 74-HP (55-kg) ML50T—also called the ML35 Telescopic and ML50 Telescopic—use their additional reach and hinge pin height of around 170 inches (4,318 millimeters) to load trucks and trailers, handle materials and debris, stack pallets, and much more.

New Holland says the ML35T and ML50T have a compact design, low ground clearance, and balanced weight distribution. Able to maneuver in tight spaces without disturbing the ground as much as most wheeled skid steers, the new articulated telehandlers became available on June 1st.

“The new ML35T and ML50T [small articulated loaders] enable owners and operators to accomplish more while delivering reliability and performance when it matters most on the jobsite,” says Dan Kakareka, product manager for New Holland Construction North America. “With impressive telescopic reach, industry-leading hinge pin height, and a range of top-notch features, these SAL models are the real deal for simplifying complex tasks and achieving project milestones faster.”

    ML35T & ML50T Common Features

The new loaders have an ISO standard coupler, allowing them to use attachments such as sweepers, snowblowers, and forks. New Holland says the pair are well-suited to removing fallen trees and debris, grading, leveling, hauling landscaping materials, and executing light construction tasks.

New Holland created the new ML35T and ML50T with a rear articulation design, which provides stability for the cab and a high level of maneuverability in close quarters. The compact telehandlers’ narrow widths allow them to clear sidewalks and move between structures and fences.

New Holland’s unique zero-cab swing feature allows the new ML35T and ML50T to work immediately next to buildings. The manufacturer also says the loaders have the power and stability to maneuver and handle material with their arms extended, such as when loading over the side of a dump truck box.

    Available Cabin With HVAC

"Our customers and their operators spend a considerable amount of time in these machines,” Kakareka says. “With the new ML35T and ML50T, we’re going above and beyond to elevate the machine experience, so operators can tackle jobs safely and comfortably.”

The new loaders have an ergonomic operator station that is easy to climb into, thanks in part to the position of the machines’ pivot point. The standard open cab has a roof with rollover and falling object protection system (ROPS and FOPS) certification. Units with the optional enclosed cabin come with climate control.

The ML35T and ML50T’s Tier 4 Final/Stage V engines are made by Kubota. Each motor has a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in its exhaust aftertreatment system but requires no diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). A backup alarm, rotating beacon, road light kit, and LED lights contribute to safer operation.

    The ML35 Telescopic

The New Holland ML35T has an operating weight of 8,818 pounds (4,000 kilograms), a maximum lift height of 169.8 in. (4,312 mm), and a maximum dumping height of 134.3 in. (3,410 mm). Its lift capacity is 1,630 to 5,510 lbs (740 to 2,500 kg), depending on the loader's position.

The ML35T is a mere 52.8 in. (1,340 mm) wide and can fit through narrow straits other loaders may have to circumnavigate. It has a 2-speed hydrostatic transmission and a travel speed of up to 18.6 mph (30 km/h).

    The ML50 Telescopic

A front oscillation joint on the ML50T lets its front axle move up and down independently of the rear axle. This reduces the risk of a tip-over on uneven ground by keeping all four wheels on terra firma. The 11,464-lb (5,200-kg) telehandler’s hydrostatic transmission differs from the ML35T’s with a 2+2 speed configuration with a high and low gear.

The ML50T’s straight tipping load is 4,820 lbs (2,185 kg), and its lifting capacity ranges from 2,780 to 6,170 lbs (1,260 to 2,800 kg), depending on the reach. The telescoping arm can achieve 171.3 in. (4,350 mm) of lift height and a maximum dumping height of 133.9 in. (3,400 mm).

The new ML50T is a few inches wider than the ML35T at 57.5 in (1,460 mm) and can travel a bit faster at 21.6 mph (34.7 km/h).
